I completely agree, this would be the book that I've been looking for.  All these guys have  been a great help for what I've needed, I'm not no guru or anything close, and yea I have posted some "off topic" threads that are nothin but crap; however, I look to this sight for insight on how to better myself with bikes.

I personally have accounts in several sights, and have found this one to be the best, but if the ones with the best advice leave, well then I will look for them in another sight, even though my name will be different due to availability.

When I post something that is on a topic, I do try to search it first, but after a couple of frustrating attempts; well then I just post my question and it gets answered.

I am no longer going to post anything that is off topic because I hope this sight goes back to how it was when I first joined.

I gotta say I think hes right. Just call and ask if they can plate it back to stock size. Have you already ordered a stock piston for it? I dont really know though. im not using to dealing with plated bore. If the ring end gap is in spec, and the piston to wall clerance is, theres no scuffs or scratches down the cylinder, then Im gonna say rung the damn thing. I cant imagine it giving you trouble if those specs are in tolerance. I ahte pilots to, tend to stay away from them.  It takes a high school diploma to fix what a college degree *** up.lol And they *** them up a lot. Id say run it if its in tolerance, especially fi you've already bought a stock piston. That cross hatch looks healthy.

I bought a piston that is for a 2001 yz250f, I think it is stock, and I haven't checked the rings yet, I'm waiting for the brown Santa to deliver my piston (still). I don't want to take the rings off the piston yet because I want to be able to compare my new piston ring settings to not only the manual, but the old piston and rings. I was also thinkin that a .04 wouldn't be that big of a deal as long as the piston to cylinder clearance was good.. but i also don't have a clue about a lot of things. so do I need to apply the nikosil to the cylinder walls still?

If theres no heavy scratches, and all the other tolerances are good, the one I always worry bout is the ring end gap, then I'd not worry about it. You have good cross hatch, and as long as it passes visual and touchin it inspection you should be good to go.

good to know cuz i really don't want to wait another 2 weeks or more to go ride this thing and figure out what else is wrong with it. I know that the coolant fluid is leakin out of the breather hose.. I dont think it is from filling it over the limit, it was leakin before I had all this top end crap happen, but it was also smoking a steam like smoke at the top of the crankcase. but I changed the coolant and it stopped the smoking, but not the leaking

Was it over heating? how low was it? May have been a bad cap, or a combustion leak, like a bad head gasket. Just have to wait and see, but Id go ahead and put a new rad. cap on it.

Wow one little slow spell and everyone gets nervous.  This happens every now and then.  We get busy at home and the board gets slow for a while.  I'm still here, but as stated in my other thread I have a lot on my plate right now.  Skip has been very busy at work.  Woods has been on all week talking about a car race this weekend.  Elk, 92, dc, and others have been on as normal.  MJP, Pin, Pop, Adam, Maple have always been ones to pop in occasionally.  I'm not sure where Chud is but he has his reasons, and I think he will be back sometime.  That said I hope to be back on more after my vacation.
