We are opening some spots in the annual Dirt Rider 24 Hour Torture Test to website teams. We had such a good response from our Internet Bike Challenge that we wanted to give the off-road websites and their members another chance to participate with us.
For the 24 hour test, we will be allowing a few select websites to build a bike capable of withstanding the Dirt Rider 24 Hour Torture Test. It will not only test the bike, it will test the people who build it. That’s right, the internet bike teams will be made up of members of those selected internet sites. That might mean… yep – you! The 24 hour test will take place in late January or early February of 2007. That seems like a long time away, but it’s closer than you think for all that we need to get done, so you have to act fast. The first thing we need to do is select those websites that will be invited to participate. We want to hear from you why your second-favorite website should be invited to the test. I know your favorite website is dirtrider.com, and I’m already working on Jimmy Lewis all day every day to convince him that the members here should get one of those open slots (I think we’re a lock). But there are still several more slots open, and we need help picking which websites will be invited. So what are you waiting for? Give us your pitch on why your website should get one of those remaining slots. Once we have our website teams selected we will provide you with more details on the bike build, the rider selection, the support team selection, and the actual big day – and by big day I’m talking about 24 full hours of wide-open fun. Basically the bikes selected will receive a lot of coverage on dirtrider.com and of course on the forums that help build them, there will be some coverage in the magazine (This isn’t Internet Bike II, that is coming), plus it is a great opportunity to be part of the whole event and see if your bike is up to it.
Spread the word on your other website’s message board for its members to do the same. This is an incredible opportunity and you could get your favorite message board and yourself invited to the Dirt Rider 24 Hour Test and find yourself riding down a trail on a bike you helped build, side by side with a racing legend, fighting off armpump, fatigue, and delirium, and experiencing something that five minutes ago you didn’t even think was a possibility. So get posting, get training, and get the word out.

yep Yep we have to go with the world best bike this time and we know that KTM rules the hare scrambles(not that I’m bias or any thing LMAO) . What we have to decide now is four stroke over two stroke. And this time lets not throw after market parts at it just because it would be cool. Lets make a reliable tuff machine that well go the distance.

Before everyone gets all excited to volunteer remeber this: Jimmy will be there (he's like a fire-marshall in a firework stand) and will be "in charge".
But, then again, I'll be there as will everyone else from the magazine so it'll probably be pretty sweet.
See you there?

I nominate KTMTalk, everyone has to agree, that their Internet bike was sweet, and had the Internet Bike project been a shootout, their bike ,would have been a close-second to ours! The 300 is a favorite of many and the Reckluse made it an ultimate tight trail bike, (plus those pickup straps were pretty sweet). Also their mad grilling skills and hospitality would be appriciated by all, during the 24- Hour tortorous Nirvana!

When we are ready to kick it off officially, we need to make sure Pete that either you, or Jimmy sets the rules we will follow and controls the nominations, voting and maintains the ongoing decisions so we don't end up with several threads all running in different directions again. If the sites software will support it; polls or voting options would be nice.
Maybe a "read only" thread you maintain with the decisions and summary to date???? That way once something is decided we can move on to the next task at hand????
If there is one yet; I'd like to see the official "rules" for a 24 hour bike that you have used in the past or even for this years event. That would help with selections etc. Dave 2006 YZ-250 2-Stroke 2006 YZ-85 (son)

This discussion is to convince us a particular web site should be invited.
So far I'm not impressed with anything. About the only half-ass nomination so far is for KTM Talk and even weaker for DR.com.
This fourm will have a lot of work to do in convincing us. It is everyone's job to make us want your web group and bike to be at the event.
There are no rules yet, it is way to early for that (for sure 96db and S/A, lights would help at night). Tell us why you and your web site kick ass. If I had a dollar for every web site that told me they "should have been included in the Internet Bike story", I'd be a rich man.
Now is the time to tell us why. Not after you missed the party.

Sir Jimmy,
I missed the last bike build, and didn’t join the board till after it was published in the magazine. So I am at a loss as to what you would like in way of “sunshine” as to get an invite to this incredible opportunity for an average guy to participate in. I’m sure every other board will be sending you their “sunshine” too, so I would just like to know what you are looking for. I have never done this before so I am WAY behind the power curve on this one, and I would appreciate any help you can offer me at this time. I understand that this may put you in a compromising position as one of the judges, but again, being new, any in site would be most gratefully received and appreciated.
As far as a bike, know that this board, dirtrideronline, like the magazine, Dirt Rider, will always produce the best product possible with the talent it has.
Thanks for your time and effort in bringing the best in off road coverage to my door.
Yours truly,
SOV
