I am getting prices on a top end rebuild so when i do it i have the money. Should i get a new cylinder or re sleeve it and have someone bore it? If i buy a new cylinder will it still have to be bored?

Do not get a sleeve. If the plating is worn off then you can get it replated. According to ML, mistake me if I'm wrong, but if the cylinder itself is actually worn then it will need bored and replated and you will need to use an oversized piston OR you can bore it and use a sleeve and use the stock piston, but sleeves suck, or another alternative is to buy a new cylinder which I don't think will need bored. Just assemble and go. BTW it takes a lot of abuse for the cylinder itself to actually wear out of spec. A piston can be bought for like 100 dollars. A replating done for less then 200 and if the wear excessive then it can be bored, plated, and a piston kit for like 400. I don't know how much a new cylinder is.

How long do the cylinders usually last in a 2 stroke?
