Ok im 5'8" and about 180 to 190 pounds. Let me start out by saying that this year was a good year for me. I got my son a xr 70 and i was riding it around. So i went and got me a xr 100, i rode it around for a while wasnt that good of a bike for me to keep riding. So went about a couple of weeks ago maybe 3 weeks ago. I got me a crf 150f great little bike i would say. I just want more power, i know you guys understand that. So im thinking about selling my xr 100 and giving my wife the 150f and getting something else. I just want to make sure that i get my eye on the right thing this time. It is too much money to get a bike and not be happy with it. I dont race so im not looking at a 250r or anything like that. i only trail ride but i do ride hard and i might even try getting in so off road races or something like that. I was also looking at the 450. Like i said i only trail ride guys so what is the best bike you guys think would be for me.

if it was up to those two bikes you stated, the 250x and the 230f, i would go with the 250x. the 450x and the wr line is also a good line for trail bikes.

I have the 230f , it's a good bike, pretty snappy but after a month I wanted more power already. I am trading it off next spring for 250x or possibly 450x. Just doing research for now on them. I think you may want to go with the 250x from the sounds of what your looking for. Good luck! Ride Honda!

the crf. i think no one can go wrong on a xcw. i think the xcw is the best bike unless your riding dunes, mx, or sx.

I ride a 2007 ktm 200 xc-w i was in your situation too.I use to ride i 150 and decided i need more power. After awhile of looking around i got the 200 xc-w. Its incredibly light (208) and powerful..compared to the crf 250x (253) but is a 4 stroke which of course add weight and it has lights and more odds and in than the 200..And the crf 230f if i not mistaken is just a 150 with a bigger engine(if im wrong somebody correct me) and it doesnt has lights or much bells and whistles or the light 250 frame and weighs (249)....
If it were me in your situation i would look at one of the four.
1. crf 250x
2. wr 250f
3. ktm 200 xc-w
4. ktm 250 xc-w

But it all depends on your style and what you are looking for.And someone correct me if i said anything wrong.

Those are 4 good choices and I have them all in consideration. I am with you on the KTM's, but I dunno If I can justify the higher price tag they go for, big bucks. am I to assume the 200 xc-w is comparable to a 2 stroke 125 in power ?

Nah more like a 250 or more my bud has a 150r and IMO it has more power...I think the 09 200's run 6.9k....But ktm's come tricked out in parts...More so than the hondas which is the reason they are more....Ktm 200 xc-w = 125 handling, 250 power

form what i hear 450s have way too much torque and overheat easily so id stick with the 250x for now and maybe keep the xr100 for your son in a couple of years unless u feel like gettign him something different

another consideration would be a 125 2stroke
========================================
woods is a poet and uhh.. i guess nobody knew it?

having a throttle that keeps sticking open well u simply just cut it off...(not to be taken seriously) eh 2ride?

03 rm125

2stroke eff tee dubba u

I guess the price really ain't much diff then the other bikes, brand new xc-w 200 $6,998. SO if I get this one paid off, I blew 4 grand on, I could try and sell this one and finance the diff. on the ktm then, ahhh this could be a plan, i'm getting excited for spring already.

I would recommend the kdx200 or an Xr250r. Both are great bikes, the kdx is 2-stroke so very snappy and good top end power and the xr has lots of torque and is a bit heavier so it will do great on the trails with out getting stuck. also with the xr they will lst forever if they are maintained properly like changing oil every 3 or 4 rides and cleaning out the air filter.

i know everyone keeps saying the 450's over heat a lot...and maybe some do, i've seen the R's do it...but i ride with 4 guys on crf450x's and NONE of their bikes have yet to overheat...and we do a lot of tight single track and desert riding.

i wouldn't go with the 230...granted, it is my bike and I LOVE it, but i modified it a lot to make it the way i wanted it, and i do out ride it and need a bike.  but it's fun and light...a great time.

i personally love the crf450x...i'd say go with that, especially if you are looking into more off-road type riding...but that's just my opinion
