Beautiful Nov. day in the Mtn's with my best buddy Wes. On a 04 YZF 450, I ever so gracefully forgot to keep the rubber side down, then enjoyed a Superman style take off into a perfect lil Christmas tree. Nice and somewhat soft. Anyway bike was alright except....key word EXCEPT! Bike was dumping gas out of the bottom breather hose. I turned the gas off and just kept spewing. Plugged hose, it poured out another breather hose. 30mi in backcountry, i turned gas on and set a record pace back. Mind you I had at least 3/4 tank when goin home, and she quit about 4 mi out. I did make it to the top of the last pass, so mostly downhill, but as we know mostly is not all. Any ideas, somthing carb related to flow of gas from tank to carb?!?! Somthing else? Any ideas are great, thanks!

welcome to the board, let me get this straight. you crashed, into a little pine tree? and now you got gas peeing out of the over flow hoses? it def. dont make sense ot me. cause if you shut the gas off, there is no gas getting to the carb, and if it is still peeing then you got some issues, mainly that it is not gas? lol. how long did you have the gas off?

Actually I went into the tree. The bike really just fell over, so flooded a bit. The gas from the breather hose was pouring out. I didn't wait after turning off the gas too long before getting back. But when i checked on the way back and gas was still pouring out. Even with the bike still running.

sounds like something in your carb is mucked up. but you say the bike does run? does it run fine? other then the gas leaking from the hoses? i would say your float bowl is stuck maybe, but if the bike runs fine.. i dunno. you might need to dissassemble the carb, and clean everything and check for any damage. jmo, there should be more answers soon

First thing that came to mind was the float. But I don't why it would start doing this only after the bike got flooded. I guess the float could be stuck or you somehow damaged the float. I would take the float out and put it in a bucket of water or something to see if it still floats. I would then measure it to make sure its still set correctly and then make sure its not getting stuck somehow.

Yeah stuck float. Wen through this on a 2001 yz 125 at the begging of the year. Just take the carb apart and clean it good, check the floats while there out, make sure it doesnt have a hole in it.
