Josh, you are right. The weight issue is overused and really has no effect. People that are using it as an argument arent really getting themselves anywhere.
Like someone said, its all about the riding, not what bike you ride.
I wonder why Secondstring hasnt said something about this topic. He loves these debates on the 4 stroke vs. 2 stroke. __________________________________________

The weight issue has really no effect????? GEE, So all the manufacturers that spent billions in reserch and new bikes that have aluminum frames for WEIGHT issues. And titainium parts for WEIGHT issues down to the 0Z...After market parts that cost twise that of a part that can do the job but becouse it weighs less! All the money spent on the newer bikes ( ALL ) of them had to do with how to make the bike lighter. And my last point...10 or 11 pounds is Very noticable on a dirt bike ( IF ) you have ever rode the same bike 10 or 11 pounds lighter!!!!! ALL the new bikes are going to the uluminum frame. For the YZ ride a 04 then a 05 or 06. then you tell me!!!!! 3dr off. Go around a tree in 1st on a 450f then a new YZ or RM 250 that goes 211 lbs......! Youll notice that 11lbs then... lol!

WHAT???? I ride a two stroke and love it. But what really kills me is The knowledg on this board of dirt bikes! If i were younger and wanted to race, I would buy nothing less then a YZ450F... And the 250f is a great bike as well. The CR 450R is awsome! Just not what ( I ) use a dirt bike for. But thats not to say that 4 strokes suck. IIIIIIII Just think that the new YZ250 is the most versitile bike ever made. It can race and smoke anything on the trail. But the 4 strokes have the hook up and ..... JUST trust me..If youv never rode a good 4 stroke then just dont post stupid ####! I have had both. Its about what YOU need your bike to do! And im sick of the 2 / 4 story when most of the kids never rode both, And cant handle the bike thay have!!! SO.. there you go...!

Just about every answer has been given (again); if I was going to "seriously" race (at 47 I am not) I would ride a YZ450F (06); but to me my YZ-250 is more "fun" (again for me...)

Its all about personal opinion/prefernce. Come on guys! This topic is rediculous, and if you haven't noticed, I dont think any message board has come to a reasonable conclusion to this topic. DLHamblin, why are you trying to defend everything? I know you are trying, but it does no good to talk to a bunch of young kids who just throw out opinions instead of facts. __________________________________________

Not defending anything (yes the thread is ridiculous like the ATF vs Gear lube, who makes the best oil etc threads) just stating an opinion. My friend has a '06 YZ-450F. I can go faster on it than my '06 YZ-250 (till it tires me out...). I just "like" my 250 2-stroke better (it feels lighter; the '06 YZ-450F may be light for a 4-stroke but it feels a lot heavier that the 250 2-stroke). If my goal was to go as fast as possible I would have to lean to the 450F.
