Its time to try it again since I have some spare time. I can get better access if I remove the expansion chamber so i'll do that rather than taking off the gas tank. Wish me luck and stay tuned. May the force be with me.

OK first off I need to know something. Are you only supposed to kick the starter one time when testing or do you kick it a few times? Reason i'm asking is because i'm getting 80 - 90 from 1 kick but my kick starter is so small i'm having a hard time giving it a good kick. When I do it a few times the compression reads 130. Whats up?

2 ride give full kicks until the needle stops going up. 6-8 is enough.
I like to then release the pressure and do it again.

also remeber to open the throttle all the way while kicking. the idea is to draw in as much air as possible.

Well you learn something new everyday. I didn't know you had to have the throttle wide open.

im sorry i dont check my comp. hence the reason im rebuilding it. lol. but seriously 140 sounds ok. i would personally rebuild it because its cheap insurance and then whenever you think it should be rebuilt then rebuild it. if you want to make sure your rebuilding it as often as you should be then after a rebuild every 10 hours pull the top end apart and measure everything and you will find out exactly how long you can go on a top end.

I hear what you're saying. I'd just hate to do something on the bike that isn't totally necessary at this point. I'm still learning and don't know if I trust myself with this yet. The guy I bought the bike thought that the top end had been done recently on the bike so I just wanted to be sure my numbers were within reason for this. I guess I have all winter to do it.

2ride, how often do you go out and ride? When you do go out, how long do you ride?

I really didn't put that many hours on the bike but the guy who owned it before me used to take it out on the weekends. Its really hard to say what type of hours were put on the bike though if thats what you're looking for.
