Does anybody know if it's possible to run a complete ignition system from a YZ85 in a '94 YZ80? I'm having trouble finding a replacement stator for my model. cheers

i took a look, bikebandit.com has your stator brand new 232.00,also they have the blueprints for all the parts all years, you can compare yours with the yz 85 side by side....and they have the fastest shipping i've ever seen

I have seen bikebandit.com and compared schematics. The electrical system on an 85 is more complex but should bolt on exactly the same. Also I have compared crank cases. They are identical molds. I got a complete 85 electrical system cheap. should arrive in a week or so. I'll post the results.

Stators are so easy to rewind it's rediculous to even think of buying a new one or paying 232 dollars for one. Rip that wire off, then start your google search for rewinding a stator. The reason I say rip the wire off first is that once it's off you'll find the push to keep you looking through those web pages until you find a good article on rewinding a stator. All the parts you need are sold at radio shack, and more than likely your stator isn't filling the spool up. so you have a couple of choices, you need to count the turns as you pull the old wire off, then if there was alot of room on the old spool on the old stator, then you can use thicker wire with the same number of turns and it will push the same voltage with more amperage, or you can leave it the same, but it is so easy that a retard could do it and save about 200 dollars! When I clean out my favorites and find the link to the article I will post it. It shows you how to rewind and has everything you need, but you could find it just as easy as I could. I find the prices of stators sickening and it makes me want to puke. In fact I'm that way about most prices in life and always look somewhere else first!
You know guys Baileys online, a chainsaw magazine sells pison, rings, wrist pin and circlips for their chainsaws from 45mm to 66mm and bigger for 27.00 dollars, all of them. Now a chainsaw runs faster and longer and harder than any motorcycle engine, so how come they can sell those pisons for so cheap? I'll tell you why, because people are scared to try anything. Check out those pisons and tell me where they are lacking? You can't because they aren't, I hate dealerships, they suck and so do all you people who post "check with the dealer" You are losers and offer nothing but a hard time so why not just shut it huh?
The dealerships are not here to help you, they hate you, they aren't helpful ever and would rather bullsh##t with a friend than help a customer. If your'e not buying a new bike, they don't care and everything you ask them for they look at you like your an alien, so stop telling people to call the dealership or refer to the manual. Get a MIC and some tools and then just try it. Just cuz it's made for a chainsaw, or it's another make doesn't mean it won't work.
I'm going to order a 68mm piston and try it in my yz250, if it works we will have a new place to find cheap parts, I won't ask you guys to try it, I'll try it and let you know what happens, but just the fact that the price is so cheap and I know the part has to take more abuse than the motorcycle part it just makes me want to destroy!!!!!!
Screw the dealerships, and as for brake pads, something else I learned, take your brake pads to one of those chinese bike dealers and they have them, all of them for 15 bucks! I mean all of those chinese motorcycles I've seen are like expired patented hondas or whatever and of course some of the parts fit. Why the hell am I going to pay 40 bucks for a pair of brake pads that have 10% the materials as a pair of brake pads from autozone for 15 dollars? It's a scam and it only works if you are dumb enough to fall for it. Wiseco needs to learn a lesson from these chainsaw pison makers, we all need to let them know their pisons are way over priced and I'm going to write the maker of those pisons and let them know that there is a whole world of us dirt-bikers that would switch instantly if they would offer us a pison with comparable prices for our bikes.
peace
