"So, YZ250 bored over, trail/racer, YAY or NAY?? You guys need to post or else the voting will suck and then Jimmy will just have to pick the bike."
I vote "Yay" (yes, OK, agree etc etc etc...)

"So keep it to BRAND and USE and on Tuesday we'll finalize this and move on..." (Jimmy) We need to keep on topc guys. You all need to say what brand/model and what use for the bike. If people keep going off topic, the vote will not turn out and then we will never get this thing done. So can you guys keep to the topic like Jimmy even said and get this part of the build up out of the way so we can focus more on the next steps in order to finish this. ______________________________________________

265 yamaha sounds goood,(one just sold on ebay and it was pretty sick) but a ttr 125 witha 250f motor and an a ravalved yz 85 frron end sound s pretty cool to me also!
Heres another little idea!
After the Shootout and everything, all the board members get their name in a hat, and one wins it?
Or
You guys do that event thing,(that we were talking about, remember back a month or two) and everybody gets a chance to ride it!

You know after thinking about it who wants a problem kid bike? You guys with your lets bore it out. Why? You can simply go to a bigger bore bike with out making a custom piston issue every time you want to replace the piston. I can tell you from having a custom bored bike its not all that. It cost $600 bucks to replace my piston and connection rod. If you going to build a bike lets make it some thing some one would want. Its nice to have tricked out after market parts but are they needed or wanted. OK so I want a Race bike I race so I have a bike I want. Its built to race come Race ready. So the whole do I cares all revolves around if the bike you build is a harescramble bike or not. A motto cross bike is just not going to hold my attention its goes to the who cares pile. Super motto matar nice bike and all but nothing Ill race or find any where to ride. Theres only a few 20 or so people who hang here. Do they race? do they need a port n polished snap monster or a bike that can go throw tough terrain geared to do the mission at hand. Lets see you use the bike in a tough race. its nice to watch jimmy joy ride around on a bike but it’s a test would not a challenge like a race be better. Like I said theres a million Motto cross bikes out there tweaked to the max. do we really need another? Its nice to have a fast bike but its hard to race it when your holding on for dear life. I would like to see a decked out racer that come to the finish line in one piece. With out a huge up keep cost to who ever gets stuck with it after you build it. A bike that cost to much to up keep ends up a rusted piece of crap in the shed. My vote stands on a 300 XC-W KTM set up for racing the Moose Run Morrison, IL June 3-4. The question is does dirt rider have a racer tough enough? Bikes are easy to make but riders?? Not so easy.

I see what you are saying. So then how about we just make a YZ250 not bored over? I like the 300's too. I got to ride one when we went to nevada. It was pretty cool, but I dont think I would pick it to be a half trail, half mx bike though. I would pick it if I was going to build a full trail bike. You guys are making this way harder. Please go to the thread that I made title "vote on use of bike" and cast your vote. Then after we figure out what type of bike we are going to build, we can vote on what brand/model. Please guys, make it easy and not difficult and chaotic. I want to finish this build and not make the DR boards look like an ass. Please be cooperative. ______________________________________________

The 2006 YZ250 looks like the bike so far. I also think making it a GNCC weapon would be fun.

Pro, Justin Williamson races a YZ 250 2 stroke in the GNCCs and OMA nationals This year, he finished 4th at the "Last Man Standing"; the toughest race in the US. he got 6th overall in the NC GNCC, eighth overall at Loretta Lynn's GNCC and a bunch of top fifteens. That consistency earned him the National #12 for "06. he also earned the National #7 in the AMA National Harescramble series. In the OMA National Series, he won the 7th and 9th rounds, made the podium 6 times, and earned the National #2. so I would look in to what hes got going on if thats the bike you people pick. http://www.williamsonracing.com/index.html I am still picking a 300 XC-W KTM my self hee he heee www.xxsuperheroxx.com

I think we should build the ultimate off road bike, something that can go from track to trails. My choice would be a 4 stroke 250 as they are light and nimble.Throw some more juice in the engine and make it ridable (easy with a 250f).I would like to see a new Kawasaki, I think that engine has alot of offroad potential, last years was a great cross over bike. Possibly change the plastic to a different color (black and white ??? or black and green)

Yamaha yz250 (2T) for offroad (preferably ISDE setup) does seem like a good choice and is practical.
Kawasaki kxf250 for offroad (similarly for ISDE setup) is my second choice.
KTM sxf250 for offroad (again ISDE setup) is third.
Why ISDE setup? Because they work well in the woods and have to be durable,, but loose very little of their mx heritage. In a nutshell, the mods appeal to mx and offroad riders.
I still prefer and exotic (something not tested on a regular basis), like a TM or a Husky wr125, but I understand the difficulty of getting such a steed.
The other bikes (from other forums) look to be a drz4xx, an xc-w300, and a crf450x.
