Uh, the bike was already decided on a bit back; current discussion is what type of use, MX, Off-Road, or ??.

I think Jummy's preference is to keep it here on this thread on the Dirt Bike forum. Using yours means its the "funkmotorsports.com" forum bike.
They (Dirt Rider) are monitoring this thread and keeping tally of votes.

Yea, my bad. I dont know about the light either. I'm skeptical about the light too. I never thought about how the carbon fiber might look after a couple bashes so i agree on the works connections skid plate if the carbon fiber looks bad after taking a beating.
What do you think about a T.M. Designworks chain slider and guide?

i think the Designworks stuff is a good idea, also WP suspension and forks, pro circuit pipe(maybe removable S/A?), powerpegs(they rotate a little), I am not sure about the light either, and those big race lights alone weigh ten pounds, not includingh mounting hardware.. controls... all that, i think a good quality metal skidplate would be better, performance filter/K&N..maybe, ASV unbreakable levers, radiator guards, frame guards, metal disk guards, dunlop tires,... and anything else

Whenever you have a direct question for me, please read the VERY FIRST POST in this form. 99% of the time it will be answered there.
So I'm not 100% sure of the direction for the YZ250.
We are not talking about modifications yet!!!
Off-Road or MX???
Seems off-road or WORCS style is prevailing.
You'll have a little more time to decide then we'll determine the best way to push on.

I was thinking about wave rotors too. Maybe an O or X ring D.I.D. chain.

It seemed to me like it had basically been the prevailing idea to go half and half( I agree with this), thats the only reason i posted soem mod ideas, also we are running out ogf time. sorry

Jimmy, I think the use of the bike is already decided. Its pretty evident that the majority wants a WORCS style bike for mostly off road but capable of MX. Before we start throwing ideas of mods out there. We need a way to keep it organized. How is Jimmy going to be able to see which parts we really want on there. Maybe we should come up with a bunch of ideas in a short ammount of time (Good ideas, not just random ones) and then Jimmy can sort through them and make a master list and then we can make revises to the master list. I think that is going to be the best way to do it. JIMMY if it is easier for you to read through the mods if they are in bulleted form (As in one idea per line) say so if it would be easier on you. Do you guys agree on us putting out ideas out there and then Jimmy sorts through the stuff and comes up with the majority of our wants and then creates a master list which he posts. Then we can say what we think we should add or change and then after we post what we think we should change, he re-sorts through our changes and then finalizes the master list. ______________________________________________

yeh so off-road for sure. and jimmy i think you said your not 100% sure on ur decision about the yz250. but if your not doing the yz250 then my vote goes for the kx450f, since dirt rider did vote for it as bike of the year and it would be cool to see a kx450f like a crf450x with more mods of course. this is only if your not doing the yz250

OK,
It is decided that we are using a Yamaha YZ250 (two-stroke) with a bias towards off-road.
Now, like Ride suggested, you guys can take this off this particular thread and secide on how to modify the bike. I'd suggest breaking it up but there are some things to remember:
The bike should refelct the members of the board!
I won't have that much time to get it all togther, so nothing crazy. I imagine I could get a big-bore turned around, but it might be cutting it close. We had the 285 in our Feb. Issue and I could actually get that stuff back, I think. That was a great motor.
And another great idea I came up with is to invite a few of the guys who are the most helpful out to ride the bike when we are testing it. Now I can't help with the costs of that, but if you need a vacation...
When there are some general conclusions on how to do this bike, bring them back to this thread and we'll start hashing out the next steps. I'll give this next phase till this weekend.
Again, Thanks for the help and imput on this project. Remeber, this bike reflects on you guys and is ment to bring more attention and recognition to this board.

JIMMY, what do you think about those Air Assist sub tanks for the forks? Do you think they would benefit the YZ250? What do you guys want to do? Should we break down the parts of the bikes into seperate threads and then come with a master list before this weekend? I think this might be the best way to kind of keep it organized. What threads should we create? I was thinking about: Engine, Controlls, Body/accesories. Any suggestions? We need to bump up the pace so Jimmy can get everything we need. JIMMY, Are you going to be using a 2006 YZ250? ______________________________________________
