I think the thread ideas you came up with are good to start with. We may want to think about a suspension thread too.

Good luck with the bike guys and gals, this is where I check out.  I'm glad it's an offroad YZ250.  I like that bike, only two stroke I ever liked.  I've tried 5 of them riding friend's bikes ktms exc 250, 300, kawasakis, and whatever and only the YZ250 with a flyweight caught my woods riding interest.  I know nothing about what mods to offer because I've only owned three bikes, all thumpers and they are very different then this bike.

I'll be in the background, enjoying the read.

I was checking out the yamaha site http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/products/modelhome/30/0/home.aspx

for you guys that voted for the yz250 is a moto bike Yamaha list the bike as a moto cross bike not a offraod bike. we should have gone KTM its a way better bike.

Its water under the bridge now.  Have you ridden a recent YZ-250?  Its a MX bike first; but likely one of the most versatile ones due to its handling and the awesome motor.

We didn't choose wrong.

LOL like I said I am a hard core KTM man. I know freinds that have yamahas so dont mind me I just feel the KTM is a better bike. put enough extras in the yz you can make it as good as a KTM hee heee heee hee hummm then again my freinds dont want to go racing bunch of wimps.

I would like to see a competitive 2-stroke for mx. Building a YZ285 for mx, that smokes the 450's, is something to take notice of. Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't a yz250 (stock displacement) set-up for offroad already capable if competing in the offroad world? The 250cc 2-stroke is having some problems in the MX class. Therefore I vote for a bike that would breath some life into the 2-stroke for MX.

Also, I looked in the feb 2006 issue for the 285, but could not find it. Can you give me a page number for that. I am intrested in reading up on it.

Thanks, Josh

for the bike brand i would have to say a KTM XC since theyre pretty much a cross between a motocross bike and a trail bike.. either a 200 or a 250

Like Kawa250 already said, you guys are talking about things that have already been decided. If you could, post your ideas on the seperate threads that have been made in order to discuss the mods for the bike.

Also I dont know if we have decided on the engine bore or not. I dont think we will have enough time.

Ok, if we are going with the 285, we need to let Jimmy know so he cant get the engine mods ordered and sent out becuase that is going to take the longest time to get done.

Jimmy, are you there? I hope you read this soon because we want to finish the bike!
