Hey guys,
It has been a while and it has been a stressful time...
The last 3 races did not go very good. It was a mix of bad starts, crashes and a lack of speed. I still ended up Top Privateer but I could have done better in overall results in the last 3 races. I have to Thank the Motoworldracing.com Team and No Fear for putting this deal together so I could race the Nationals.
It took a long time to get my deal together for 2007/2008 but I finally signed! I had 2 offers in Europe for Yamaha De Carli and Honda Martin as well as KTM, Yamaha Motoworld and MDK/Honda in the US.
After a lot of thinking and a lot of negociations, I decided to stay in the US for the next 2 years in the MDK/Honda team. Nick Wey is staying in the team as well. Steve Lamson will be the Manager of the team.
I will be wearing Answer gear for the 1st time for the Canadian World Supercross Rounds and for the next 2 years.
I plan on doing the McGrath Invitational, The US Open, Sheffield SX, Bercy SX (in 250F), Barcelone and the 2 races in Canada.
I will be getting my new bike soon and will start riding and getting ready in Supercross.
That's all for now...
Thanks for reading
DV
Hey guys,
I got my MDK 450 bike yesterday. Nick Wey and I went to jet the bikes at Lake Elsinore track and make sure everything was working properly to start the SX practice. We changed a couple of jets and got the bike running good. I have a base SX setup from RG3 to start riding SX.
Today (Thursday), I went to a SX track in the high desert for my first day of Supercross. The suspension, jetting and FMF pipe are a great base to start working in SX before we start the big testing next week.
The plan is to race the McGrath Invitational and the US Open the following week. We don't have much time to get ready but we should be ok.
I have a new mechanic too. It's Brent Myron. He was actually my first mechanic in the US in 96 in the FMF/Kawi and Yami/#125 days... Our wives are best friends and he has a ton of experience on the 450 I am riding. He was my mechanic for my first win in the US in Seattle 97 in the photo below.

Won't this be interesting considering all the Honda-bashing he did when he left BooKoo and went back to the Yamaha. I seem to remember him placing a lot of the fault for his poor 2006 SX performance on the Hondas and saying how much better he felt to be back on the Yammie. I wonder if his training regimen will change any.

I think that RC proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that it is possable to win on Green, Red or Yellow!
I have always wondered if Holligan Racing is in it to win SX races or just make money promoting their TV show!
I think that the 2006 SX season was DV's wake-up call! Keeping our Borders SAFE!

Mac had already proved that before RC came along. What both of them proved is that the bike is unimportant, it's desire and committment that win championships. That's where I think DV12 is lacking.

Yea, you are right-on about MC! I thought about it after I posted. The only bike MC didn't have any luck on was orange. Not his fault though.
I read a Mitch Payton interview were he said that French Racers were lazy. His point was that in Europe the talent isn't as deep as in the USA. So, if they have above average talent they win easily.
I really hope that DV steps it-up on his training and drive to win! Keeping our Borders SAFE!

He did well on the nationals considering how late a start he had on it and he was on a privateer bike.
This months RacerX (can I say that here??) has a good interview with DV. Though its out of date since he signed the current deal; he was very much leaning to retirment after 2006!
I like DV because he is one of the more interesting riders and very approachable to his fans. Dave 2006 YZ-250 2-Stroke 2006 YZ-85 (son)

LMAO
So, what you are saying is that he has adopted the famous "Supersize Me" training regiment! I guess all of those DV sightingings at Mickey D's were true!

Woody:
The factories are very fickled. Nick had a Factory ride with Suzuki in 2004. He got dropped for RC! The Factory Teams are looking for "THE NEXT BIG THING" so they very seldom offer a ride to a guy like Nick (or even DV12 for that matter). Sad to say, but like in all sports they go with young talent who will work cheaper than a Journyman Racer.
