hey! cool good 4 u learning how 2 ride! yeh im 13 too. corse ive reen riding 4 a while but yeh.. i mainly ride off road but i made this little jump in my back yard & i go up to our mx track sometimes.. so my dad has taught me to jump.. here is what me told me..
ok just dont let up or hesitate.. go strait for the jump then when ur front wheel hits it like kind of press down of the handlebars and like make the bike go down a lil bit and kind of preload it.. then i use the clutch right a the top before i leave the ground and just like pull it in & let it bak out fast & it gives it a extra push. then look where u r oing to land and prepare for it.
but mainly jumping doant happen without practice. just go out & try it & then experiment w/ anything u can think of that might help & c if it does.
but i really wish there were more girl riders! then we wouldnt have 2 ride w/ some of the jerk offs we end up riding with!

I took a riding clinic this weekend and the thing I came away with most was to remain steady on the throttle at all times. At all times or you may crash. Pro racers may have tricks but you should stick to the basics. Good luck.

i might of said it wrong then sorry.... what i meant was say steady on the throttle & just use the clutch to pop it up a bit ..... but i dont know if thats the right way to do it... i jump a 4 stroke ttr125 so im not sure if its the same as a 2 stroke in how you ride it... 2 strokes are a little more zingy & reply faster to the throttle so you might not need it.

If you are having to use the clutch to rev the bike up and dump it constantly you probably need to downshift and get in the appropriat gear for the condition.

Just stay smooth and steady, squeeze with ur knees, don't freak and tense up with your upper body. And whatever you do don't close your eyes. I've seen a lot of new guys or people who are trying something for the fist time close their eyes and they got screwed.

there are ways of controlling your bike in midair. You can give it gas in midair to pull the front tire up a little and hit the rear brake to put it down a little. make sure you pull in the clutch before you hit the brake.and make sure you have the rpms up before you hit ground or you will really mess up your landing(this is only on big air jumps where you have some time to do it.)

You can also control your bike with your body. By leaning over the bars or shifting back.

Are you trying to be a stupid ars- or are you naturaly gifted!! Telling someone to pin it and hang on will possibly get a beginner hurt or worse. Please use some common sence if you cant give sound advice appropriate to person asking question please let it pass by, people read this and some dont know B-S when they read it becouse they are new to riding. You should let people know that this is a joke (if it is). If its not you have a lot to learn.
A lot of people new to the sport don't know this type of advice can hurt them. Dave

You really can't learn by reading (either books or advice here), only by doing. Problem is you need to do it the right way. Practice does NOT make perfect. Perfect practice makes perfect. Practice the wrong technique and you just get good at doing it wrong.
I am not sure where you are at but check around for local riding schools or ones that come to you area. If not; see if there are any experienced riders that could mentor you.
While its not impossible to teach yourself; at your stage going to a beginner MX school can teach you all the correct techniques to build on. Plus, having someone observe and critique you helps a lot as well. My 12 year old will be taking an MX school this year (he got his YZ-85 in November).

Hey, I'm 13 and have a YZ 85 too. The best way to jump is build up your confidence. The first jump jump a quarter of the way, build your confidence, build your confidence, then three quarters. and keep doing three quarters until your ready to jump all the way. Use your weight to manuver the bike (front or back). If your front tire raises, pull in the clutch and tap your rear brake. If your nose dives, then lean back and gas it. Hope this helps you, it takes alot of work.

ALL U NEED TO DO IT GET A FAIR AMOUNT OF SPEED AND COMPRESS YOUR SUSPENSION BEFORE YOU HIT THE JUMP BY SORTA LIKE A JUMPING MOTION ON THE PEGS PUSH YOUR WEIGHT ONTO THE PES AND RELEASE THE WEIGHT ONCE YOUR AT THE TOP OF THE JUMP
