Personally what do you feel would make the better harescrambles bike? A 250f mxer or a 125 twostroke.

definitely a 125. Even though 250f's arn't as heavy anymore, the weight difference between the two when you are riding them is really noticable. The 125 is nimble in the tight stuff where as the 250 is more of a brute. Another example would be if you needed to get off and push up a hill or in a mud bog. A 250 just seems like much more of a hassle. The engine on the 4 stroke is not meant for woods either. With a weak bottom end, easy stalling, heavy engine braking, and easy overheating, a 125 would be much easier and fun to ride. I have ridden both types of bikes in harescramble races, and I feel faster on a 2 stroke, and my results back that up. Also, as you probably know, after a season of hard racing the 2 stroke will have been a lot cheaper than the 4 stroke as far as repairs go. Oh and by the way, im not just saying this because Im a die-hard 2 stroker- 3 out of the 4 bikes in my garage are 4 strokes and I really love them on motocross tracks, but I feel the 250f dosn't have anything on the 125 when it comes to woods racing -just my opinion. Go for the 125! It is the most fun you can have on any bike.

125 two-stroke for sure!!! The 250F mxrs are great an all but I dont think they are cut out for the woods. Im a two-stroke guy and always will be. I think the 125 my be underpowered compared to th 250F but the 125 makes up for it in how light and flickable it is and the way it puts power to the ground.

I don't see a problem with the 250f in the woods or on the track... I have ridden mine on track style riding and in the bush with no complaints at all, i love it... But my opinion could be biased b/c the last bike I have owned was a 1979 XR185 and now have been riding an 06 crf250r for 3-4 months now and love it!!!! And I also have never ridden a new 2 stroke... But Yes the 125 2 stroker would be a great bike to use, cheap to maintain and fun to ride... For a 125 2 stroke I would say the Yamaha YZ125, and for the 250f's all of them are good, but for suzuki's get the 07... -2006 crf250r

Since you're moving up from an 85 the 125 is pretty good choice. If you were a full size adault then the 250f would be the clear choice to haul the bigger rider around. 250f's do make great woods bikes though, they're pretty light (alot more than a 450f) and have just enough tourque and power to be very quick through the woods, espicially through the slimmy stuff.

How big are you? Height, weight etc. A KTM 200 is a super nice ride, less twitchy than a 125 but still way more edgy than the bigger 2 strokes out there for sure. I know a 16 yo girl that is only 5'6" and she rips on one that is lowered about 3" through a cut seat and suspension drop. The 125's seem like you would need to be on the clutch even more so just to keep a small amount of traction IMO.

Ya, I agree with boolabaire. The KTM 200/300 are awesome bikes for what you are looking at. Not as pipey because they are more trail based and around here, there are a hanful of people with them. __________________________________________

you weigh more than me by about 15, but are shorter. sit on some bikes you would consider buying and you believe in, go with the most comfortable if you are small for themi would say.
2005 YZ250F I'm yamah177 Nobody knows what I do, until I don't do it

GET THE 125
or the exc200
the 250f is not good for tight woods !
i hawe CRF250R . RM125 and KDX 220R
on the tight woods im fastest with-RM125, i get more fun with KDX220 and i go tied fast with CRF
on the motokros CRF is the fastest and funnest ==but also on the motocros 125 is more fun but is slow .the kdx is not for motocros
for easy and long tail riding the KDX is the best the CRF is also fun
but now i think to buy some ktm 200 and sell all old bikes
maybe i just hold kdx for the 2nd bike
with my 125 i win hard ewents bafle with crf s wr s and all new bikes
with my crf250 i win only in my class but owerall my thime go bad im go more tied after and with less fun
and my crf is 3 thime more expensive from my rm
..dont made my mystake
get some 125 (just not cr) or some 200 (better exc) and you be happy!
. I DONT KNOW ENGLICH

im 13, 5'9 and about 140-150 pounds. iv got a kawasaki kdx 200 and it is amazing on the trails. iv riden the ktm 200 and id say they are very much alike and different in different areas. the kawasaki is definetly much much quieter, the ktm is preaty loud and has a much shorted power band. the kawasaki has a very good motor set up for endero cross (witch i do) over the ktm.the ktm is a good bike but id say if your gana be tite cornering, slower crawling over rocks, going throw streems, and if your ganna be on road part time, the kdx 200 is the way to go. the ktm 200 if less pepier than a mx bike but it is still prity pepie.

If you weigh less than 150lbs, a 125 motocrosser is an all-purpose bike. If I was still that light, I wouldn't ride anything else. It's the most fun you can have on two wheels. Trail or track.
