Could anyone tell me if they think a RM125 would be too big for me? The seat height is about 37 inches which is a little taller than my waist. I'm 5'2". It's a two-stroke too, so I also don't if it would be too much power for me since I just started riding over the summer. If anyone has any comments, let me know. Thanks.

First of all, seat height really doesnt matter, unless you under 5 ft, you can always set the preload on your suspension so your ride height is lower. As far as if its too much power for you, without any info on what bike you started riding on over the summer i would say that a rm125 would be a ok bike for someone with your skill, BUT for a first bike with a person with not alot of experience, i would suggest either a 250f, either the yamiha or honda, or maybe even a step down to a crf230 honda. BUT i really wouldnt suggest a motocross bike if your only gonna be riding trails and maybe a track here and there cause i own a wr450 which is a trail bike, and i can take it to the tracks with ease all you would have to do is set up the suspension, and you can always just remove things you dont need, like those headlights tailights and electric strarters, Sooo with that being said if you ride lots of trails with a track or 2 a month for fun get somethin like the crf230 honda or a wr250 yamaha. If you are going to be riding some trails, but alot of track get a honda crf250 or a yamaha yz250f. Either way its really your choice not mine, im just here for advice.

Good luck

I started on an XR100 and I ride trails more than tracks so I should go with a bigger trail bike. Right?

if you mostly ride trails then you should stick with a four stroke. a ttr 250 might be a good bike for you. but it is kind of heavy.

I know some racers your height on two stroke 125s but they ride mx. On the trails it would be a problem. Of course you'll need starting blocks.

No i wouldnt say for you do go out and buy a new mid sized trail bike, do what a TUN of people do, and get a 250f motocross bike, which are really quick mattering on which bike you get, and then gear it for the trails for about 80 bucks on sprockets. The only problem is finding the right teeth to have on it for what you need, a lot of guys do it wrong and have a great low end power and it goes flat on top which you dont want if you ride trails. So i would go to your local dealer and look into a crf250 or yz250f, and ask them what gearing they would do on one so you could trail ride it with ease. BUT this is why i told you to get a 250f, there light weight, about 205 lbs compared to 250 plus, and you can always take them to the track. Your also gonna want to set up your suspension for the trails so it will give more otherwise you will feel every bumb and pothole, so also ask them to set up your suspension for you for trail riding, then when you want to go to the tracks, go back to the dealer and have them tighten it back up for you so you then can have the ultimate bike that not only flies on the trails, but then can also go out to the tracks and be competetive. Good luck with your purchase.

I just bought an 05 YZ250F and i do mostly trails.  When i bought it i just put a smaller front sprocket on and a bigger back and its been perfect for trails tho i wouldn't mind making the suspension a little softer.  I was riding a crf150 before and it was a big jump but i've never had more fun in my life riding my 250f and i think they are perfect for trails.

No it shouldn't be to much power for you. Since you stated out riding during the summer you should be used to riding.

if you ride trails you would whant to have something that you can put your feet down, if you go up a rooky hill and bog down, and your feet cant hold you up you are going to lay the bike down and dent the pip or brack levers.

IF you are good enough a RM 125 is just fine for a trail or track. On the trail you just need to know how to lug the bike by short shifting and using the bottom end. A 2 stroke can be an awesome trail bike if you know how to  use it. They are light and have great suspension you can dial in for trails. Just put an FMF Fatty on and you are good to go.

A 250F is way better for every type of riding than some overweight trail bike.

Stick to a MX 2 stroke and put an FMF pipe on it
