Hello, I am about to purchase a crf250x.  Can anyone tell me what needs to be done with a crf250x to get better response and horsepower.  I know about the wr, but what about a crf.

Pipe is the easiest thing I think. Cant you get the R version's cam and put it in the X?

Your going to have to spend that hard earned money on parts that increase volumitric effeicency, reduce intake flow losses and reduce exhuast back pressure just like on the WR. I dont know where and how you ride your X model but it would be a shame to throw a race style exhuast system on your bike and loss the privalage of riding off road so try looking for systems that have USFS approval if considering exhuast. There are a ton of little things that are said to improve responce and power of CRF250R/X, like the boyesson pump cover, icat ignition modifier and I wouldnt want to leave out the near endless supply of filters, cams, exhuast, rev boxes and the countless other things that all add up to the dream bike of all riders. Its really a matter of "speed cost money, how fast do you want to go" ?

it would tke less money to get a 250f and modify it to a woods bike. unless you need the electric start

I was looking at the 250 because I found a great buy on a new 2005 crf250x.  Plus I do not want the added 25 pounds of the 450.  I sat on both and the 250 really fits me well.  The thought of a 250x in stead of just the crf250 is because of the electric start would be nice to have when stuck on a hill, plus teaching my boy to ride later this year, would be nice to have electric start for all the stop and gos I would have to do.

Was looking to get more out of my 2nd and 3rd gear for harescrambles.   Any quick fixes.

Plus anyone want a new 2005 250x, or a 450x.  Found a place that has an awesome deal on them.  Just let me know.

not much you can do, really.  Your probably used to a 2-stroke and it will be hard to match that kind of power.  I know all the pro's are riding 4-strokes, but those are factory rides with factory money.  my advice to you is to sell it before you get to many miles on it and get a 2-stroke.  Hold on there 4-stroke guys>>> I own a 450 4-stroke and a 250 2 stroke and in stock form there is no comparision, the 2-stroke rules! They are both 2005 honda's.  I still cherish my 2002 kx 125, hence the user name.

yes I am for real,,  I called today and there is one 450x left.  It is in northern mississippi, a couple of miles south of the tennessee border.

I am getting the 2005 honda 250x brand new from there friday for 4495, and thats brand new out the door, no extra setup fee added.

Thats why I was wondering how to get more umph out of it.  For that price, its hard to pass up.

Do you want one,, or are you just playing around,, there are 3  250x's left.  I will more likely give you the web address tomorrow if you want it, but I want to make sure my 250x is reserved, for that price they will not last long.
