I don't have much patience you know.  I'm going to rip my computer out of the outlet strip and take it down to the PCDoctor.  Might be out of commission for a while.  When I get back up I'll check in with you guys then.  If you want to keep posting stuff to me here that can help me out with the videos I'd appreciate it!

Bye for now...-Paul

I really don't know what is out there as far as software goes. I'd ask who ever is selling you the computer about software to edit movies. I have a HP pavilion entertainment laptop w/media center and I can't edit vids. It takes a special software to do it or from what I hear a Mac come with the ability. I personaly like HP hear alot of complaints about them but they are not that bad.

If your got windows try a window movie maker? Really i would go to a store and ask about programs. One thing though don't get the most expencive software, I doubt that you'll use half of what the programs will do. You just need the basics.

Are you getting a new computer from a store or ordering one online?

I have another idea. Make a quick 10 second video of anything and try to upload it to see if you have done it correctly.

I also agree with that.  Small bites!  You need to learn to crawl before you can walk.

For easy, inexpensive software I would recommend either Pinnacle Studio or Adobe Premiere Elements.  Both are about $100 and aren't too difficult to figure out.  They also give you lots of special effects and have a decent 'help' section.  Hang in there and let us know how you make out.

I'm baaaaaaack.   Thanks for all the good advice.  The computer is running with WAY more memory than even I have in my 49 years, 40 of which involve dirt bikes.  i am going to do a short video of a few seconds, and upload it.  Meanwhile, I intend to acquire an editing program to be able to edit my videos, so you guys can see only the best portions of the local trails and stuff I ride.  As for the riding videos you'll have to wait until spring before I go out there.  We've got TONS of snow aroung here!  One thing I noticed about the Tachyon XC camera is that there is very little sound because its sealed off for underwater action.  If I leave the rear door open though you can hear things like my 2-stroken KTM pretty well...

a brand new hard drive, a back-up hard drive and extra hard drive containing all my old files!  He saved it all, and set me up with this external hard drive that I can use for all picture and video files.   And my wallet is $220.00 lighter.  We have a very good PC repair guy here in town...

Hey Rocky, I've been wondering, was the video you posted of the rocky trail ride something you did?  If so, how'd you do it?   Your camera, your editing, etc.?

No that was not a video of of mine. Was on you tube. It was just an area that I've riden before. What ever program you get should tell you how to slice and dice you vid to what you want.

Sounds like your hooked up computer wise. The external hard drive is good for music to. You'll have to let us know if you can download your vids now.
