Actually what Craig says here is important.  When you come to the day that you need to fill out an application for employment, you'll wish you had practiced getting it right.  I've thrown applications for employment in the trash, just because I couldn't read their writing.  Maybe it wasn't fair to judge them like that, but that's the way it is in the real world.  And dress for the occasion while you're at it.  (Oh no, here he goes).  enough said...

haha that is a given yes but at the same time it is too bad at times too because a lot of excellent people for the job have been turned down and retards a lot of times hired because they did everything according to text book. I've seen it many times.

he's probably in a huge rush and thats why he logs onto the internet and then opens this site, then clicks reply to thread, and by then theres just no time so he has to talk like that.

Or he has confused texting with typing semi-formally on the internet. Or he could be trying to be cool.   You take your pick.

I agree that spelling and grammar are important; after all, I am a teacher haha.  I had a friend actually do a thesis paper on the harmful effects of text messaging, online gaming, and internet speak.  Basically, she argued that these modalities of communication are teaching kids to have poor spelling and use these words or abbreviations in their essays....a prime example was "ur" instead of "you're" or the use of the word "pwn" (if that's a word)...hahah

I know I don't type here the way a teacher or a professional student should type.  I can assure you though, I know what I'm doing.  In fact, English is one of my strongest subjects....but when i come to DR I don't feel like i need to be acting like i'm writing my next paper on the role of the Japanese Prime Minister in WWII....i do enough writing, editing, and formal writing as it is, I like to come here and just chat with you guys like I would if I was actually speaking.

Great write up Court. Although SOME people just can't get texting and a formal write up straight.

When i'm on the board I'm usually holding 6 to 8 converstaions at once and typing close to 90 word per min.  If I overlook a few typos on my quick posts and not go back to fix them it's because I have already moved on the then next question.

90? You must be a typing speed freak. Do you burn keys at that pace? How about blisters?

I've done 60 when tested for a job before, but 90 is like unreal, you have to be half man half machine, a lot of people that say they can do 90 are all lies! or else there not telling you that there accuracy is like only %50

90 is not that fast. you should see my mom or my sister type.  they are up in the 120 WPM zones.  Mom's been a secretarty for almost 30 years, and my sister grew up typing on chat boards all her life.  i used to wonder how she could hold 10 conversations online and still be able to talk on the phone while she does it.  Right now I'm on a sled site, this site , and holding 5 conversations on Myspace.  I'm starting to get tired now. and making a lot more mistakes.
