I don't throw most applications in the trash, just a few, though most applications ahve spelling errors.  But since I'm on the subject of employers' pet peeves, I hired a guy last year, 19 years old and very smart.  I noticed one day he took over half an hour to mask off a beam before we painted, that should have taken about ten minutes.  He was "fidgeting" with something in his hand, and when I asked him about it he confessed to texting, which up to that date I didn't know about.  So I told him to leave his phone in his truck, and he could check for messages at lunchtime, and when he got off work at 4:30 each day.  Two days later he was at it again, on the clock, so I fired him.  His mother was so upset with me!  I found out later it was his own mom he was texting with...

Still he was using up your time.  If she would have just called him and got the conversation overwith he would not have had that problem.  I think you were still right to let him go.  You did warn him after all.

Texting is really a waste of time. How much info can you possibly get into a small message? It takes forever to have a conversation.

i prefer texting to talking...i can just say what needs to be said and leave it at that...no awkward "hi, how are you"...hahaha

You are so limited in what you can say in a text though. Its fine for asking a quick question but there are people that text back and forth all day. Some teenage girl had over 2000 texts in one billing period just recently. Thats insane.

Since becomming recently single I find myself texting far more than I ever imagined.  Not because I want to but it's what the girls want to do now.  Much like these boards they can hold conversations at their liesure. (another misspelling I think). I much prefer the old way of greetings and setting a tone with hearing the other persons voice.  There is too much unspoken language between people that gets missed when we just write to one another.

How would you set the auto spell checker on an XP?  the one where it underlines in red and offers options?
