The Weapons MX mod is a good choice. Being one of my sponsors, I think we might be able to get it. (I feel bad that I even forgot about that) coupled with a oversized tank for IMS or Clark should give us good range.

Hero, you are right about the KTM being proven. I was just throwing our idea. I’m basically a *** I’ll ride anything.

LOL www.weaponmx.com is one of my sponsors as well. I was having the same thoughts it would work out with a over sized tank. I was going to look in to the over sized tanks as so to post a link to the type I was suggesting. Do you have links to IMS? I was wondering if they had the 2007 model parts out yet. I was still debating on if we should get a Dry break receiver system for the bike as well. http://www.ziptyracing.com/products/product_categories.aspx?id=MTAwNA==
An as far as that *** thing I would take any bike that some one wanted to give me so I guess that makes me a *** as well LOL

Superhero,

Yes, you did jump the gun for posting this, and good for you.

I'm glad you guys are already thinking about the bike.  You are ahead of the game because we obviously haven't posted the rules yet.  All we are doing right now is giving you guys a heads-up, and giving other sites out there a chance to get involved.  There are a lot of great sites, and obviously not all got to participate in the Internet Bike, and this is our way of giving all other sites a fair chance to be considered for an invite.

So, I know a lot of you guys also visit other sites.  Feel free to spread the word to them to come here and tell us why they should get one of the 'Golden Tickets' to this Jimmy Wonka event.  We thought sending the invites out in PowerBars would be a good idea, but went this way instead.

I think the main thing you guys need to be doing right now is TRAINING.  Some of you guys will be riding a TORTURE TEST.  It's really fun to think about right now as you sit there reading your computer screen, but things won't be so easy when you're hitting the 12TH HOUR and thinking to yourself, "We're only halfway there.  Why is it so dark outside?  What did my hands use to feel like?  What's that on my knee...  Oh, it's my tongue!  Did I just say 'halfway?'  Who built this bike, anyway?!"  So get your bike ideas brewing, spread the word to other sites, and hit the gym.

And you need to get invited first...

There will be no free handout to DR.com this time. You have to convince us you should be invited like everyone else.

I liked the Wonka thing, that was funny.

I started hitting the jim I mean Gym already as I'm planning that Crazy idea about doing the 1000. But I don't know where I'll be by then. I know already that Jan5-7, Feb3, 4 and Mar2-4 I will be commited to the Army thing. There is a possibility 13-26Jan and/or3-17Feb I will be TDY. That doesn't leave much time for me, so if you have any sway, make it for a date that I can make it. Because I'd love to make it, if Jimmy gives us an invite.

Speaking of Invites, What does he want to hear? I wasn't involved in the other bike biuld, in fact I joined the boards just after it came out in the mag. I want to do my part and am excited about the whole prospect, just need to know what to do. (Ohter than help build a killer bike)

Well I guess jimmys going to be a bit pissy on this build. I guess hes not so happy about how poorly we handle the last build.

So Now he wants to be ass kissed tell he gets that warm fuzzy feeling. Now I am a  good talker and I can sway people in to my way of thinking. I can sell my work and or my skills but I was never a good ass kisser of men. Women  yes men nope either you like me or you hate my guts(does not play well with others). Im not here to win a popularity contest I just know what I like and what works.

So how do we prove to the hard ass we are worthy of this little “Wonka” event? I was thinking by putting together a kick ass EXC with thought of reliability rather then what might work or would be cool or has never been done.

We dont want to point out how disorganized the last build was and the lack of a complete parts list. Or that we kind of got stuck with a yz just because he had one (see my point about ass kissing) so how to we start out? begging? So its not a given that we're in so what now?

I am not one to sit around lead or get the f@#k out of my way! I'm not waiting on this hard ass Im thinking of writing manufacturers and see whos going to start donating parts on this build. We dont need him to ask for the donations we just need to get our ducks marching in order. What bike? 2 stroke? We have to go with a EXC you people with sx syndrome need to keep it under control this time!

You people with the vote threads this forum is old school and does not support that and on the last build vote where I was willing to use my site jimmy was crying he wanted it here and not on another forum so we need to post what we want here with this old school forum.

Im not here to kiss ass Im here to kick ass and take names and this forums going to win this time!
So get it together people lets start bouncing ideas so I know who to write and start requesting donations for the free advertising their going to get! If jimmy wants to cry about it then let him whine but Im not going to sit here and see him fudge this one like last time!

hows that sun shine jimmy!

I know exactly what it is and so does Hero, he suggested it first and this is more of a trail riding event not a motocross event.

Hey Boss, if you put together another mandatory enduro pit like last year, I'm out. That was gnarly.

Trust me; posts like this aren't going to help.  We have not been invited (Jimmy has the final veto power) and irritating him won't help any.

Unless we are going to pass the hat and buy and build the bike among ourselves Dirt Rider will have to again "sponsor" the bike.  That being said it somewhat does give them (him) the right to be "pissy".

If you were going to sponsor (pay for) a bike being built for a race; what would YOU want to know (or hear) from prospective builders?

Look at it from that point and then direct your answers back to Jimmy as the prospective sponsor.

If you read past 24 hour tests; these people take it seriously.  I suggest everyone try and look up a few from the past (Pete, can you supply some past issue dates for the 24 hour test).

Relax if jimmy does not like me personally he can simply not invite me. Hes not going to hold the whole group here responsible for me jerking his chain!  I said if you people would pick KTM Ill start sending letters to some KTM dealers I know and see if we can get a 2007 to start with as well as the after market parts. I can sell this if they get free advertisement its not like their giving us the bike they well simply loan us the bike! KTM would jump at a chance to get a write up for the 2007 line finishing the 24-hour test! As well as many after market parts manufactures!
If jimmy cant take my humor he can simply ban me from the site! Hes a big boy(acts like a baby some times ) but I think he can handle a little ribbing.

You are likely right, but I guess my slant was if we want to be taken seriously then we need to post seriously.

Hi All, I've been in contact with Pete and we both agree that since the call went out to ALL websites to come to this forum and post their reasons for consideration of inclusion in the 24 Hour, it's best if we keep all the chatter about this in one thread, including our own forum's comments. This will make it easier for Jimmy to see everything that's being discussed (and for him to see our own unified efforts).

Once the decision has been made to invite us (it's not a slam dunk yet) then Pete will create a new sub-forum like that of the Internet Bike Build for us to discuss the actual building of the bike and exchanging of ideas just for this forum's members to participate in. So, please, do not respond in this or any other threads on the subject. Keep your comments in the original thread that was started by Pete for the time being. Thanks, all.
