I really love the idea of picking for our charity diabetes.  BUT this is not set yet.  Please feel free to throw out other ideas.

The real selling point to me for picking diabetes is that we could have a member(s) on the team who has diabetes.  Showing what that rider (or riders!) has to go through during an endurance event would be informative to those without diabetes, and inspiring to those who do.

My vote for the charity is diabetes.  But I want everyone to have a chance to vote the same way, or vote another way.  We're not set on anything yet except that we have our invite.

Also, I'm happy to see enthusiasm, but we're acting as a team, so let's all decide on our charity BEFORE we start contacting people.

I'm Good with the diabetes charity (American Diabetes Foundation) for the team, but I would also like to see each rider have a individual charity he/she is riding for. This could get complicated I know, but It would show some "home town" charities being involved as well as the national ones.

I was thinking a Dollar/mile as a base.

A good team that finishes the event this year can expect to cover approximately 450 miles.  So a good cap would be 500 miles.

ok thats a good cap so we need to decide what charity now and make a form to print to put pledges of donations on.

So, $1 x 500miles x 10pledges x 7riders = $35,000

Thats some decent coin to give away. Plus whatever we get for the bike. We're talking $45-50K (on the high side) Note worthy of some national coverage, don't you think?

Pete, Rereading the past thread on the other threads (that made sence) I think the concense is for the diabetes charity. I think the American Diabetes Foundation would be a good choice. (I think thats the big national one) I would also like to have my own personal charity that my own miles go to.

There is my input, anyway.

Seriously SOV I think well get a lot more for the bike if we get it on Leno and have big name pro riders to sign the bike for the cause. $1 x 500miles x 10pledges x 7riders = $35,000
We need every one to bring in as many pledges for the riders not just 7 guys asking we need every one to hit their local dealers, tracks, business, we could break a million if we get started on this. A penny a miles good if we get one million to pledge.

The only reason i brought up diabetes when you mentioned charitys is because i'v been dealing with it all my life. But as you said, its up to every one. But thats my vote. And i dont want anyone to think that just because im diebetic, that i think i should go. Im happy just being part of the build, And getting the word out to kids. But i think we should put it to a vote now, so we can move on.

Please stay on topic.  We have a lot to get done, and we’re going to do a lot of good for people other than ourselves.
