Quick question(s) I hope you can help me out with, I went to an enduro in oregon this last weekend & seemed on every bike there was a Scott Damper mounted. What exactily are they? What do they actually do? Do they really work? & are they expensive? Thanks for the help             -Mike

The Scott/ohlins dampener stablizes the front end of your bike and prevents tank slap.

They cost about $400, but everyone who has one loves them.

If you do a lot of off road through rough terrain, it is money well spent!

Dampeners aren't a waste of money.  They reduce arm pump and keep your bars from getting squirly over bumps.  I personally don't use one, but I've ridden bikes that had them and they do actually work.  If your a decent racer, I would look into them.

I prefer to ride off road style lots of trails with climbs and rutts and washouts, I just love riding but I havent had any problems with arm pump tearing thru the woods and hills I climb but I am not a racer either, I do however have a well rounded physical training cycle with trainers who push me 3 days a week and on top of that I have strength and indurance training that keeps me in a shape that is desent by any scale so arm pump is something that I thankfuly havent had to fight off a great deal. I prefer to save my money for replacement parts and for the hualer that it just killing my on the fuel and repair costs.
