Spider, I'm sure you're better than you think you are....I feel like a lot of people can be like that.  And it doesn't matter how good you are, only how much fun you're having

Oldschool, my dad is 49 and he kicks our butts still too....My brothers are getting close to him and I can keep up, but he's still great.  His friend Kevin (who's like a dad to us) just dominates us...we don't even have a shot if he's riding his best. haha

sully, yeah we have a friend like that. honestly my dad gained a large amount of his skill from a trip to el mirage when my sister was really young and got left behind from the group she was with he went on a mad scramble and covered just about every square foot of that area in record time.

wow.  that's scary.  i'm sure that would be enough to get anyone riding quickly.

riding has been in my family for a long time...most of the people we ride with have extensive background in it and are ex-desert racers or current ones.  my dad and all his friends just smoke us younger guys.  haha

I get around OK, and I have a ton of fun doing it.  But I'm not naive enough to think I could compare to anyone of any age that has been doing this for a lot longer than I have.  I watched the sx on the weekend....with my jaw dragging on the floor.  Unbelievable.... wheelie through a rut on a berm...not in my bag of tricks, not even close.  I know those guys are pros...but good grief they're unbelievable.

sully, thats cool i used to get smoked but now i hold my own. i started out in my younger days on an xr100 but that didnt last even a year and i started riding my dads 250 when we would go til i finally got one of my own.

spider, those guys are intense thats why i stick to desert riding. it takes a lot of skill to ride a closed course even remotely close to the way they do. its quite the physical strain

I used to watch sx races and not really get it... looked like a bunch of guys on a trampoline who just happened to be riding a bike.  But now that I'm riding myself I can appreciate it way more.  My kids love to watch it with me...father/son time... priceless.  Instead of "male bonding" my wife calls it "weanie welding"

I started on an XR100 too

Don't get me wrong, we all hold our own....but they still just seem to have that extra edge...a certain finesse that we don't....something that just comes with age almost.

i think most racers are intense...mx or desert...it all takes talent.  it's crazy to see what some guys do.

spider, me and my dad and brothers usually watch the extreme enduros together, and other desert races...that's our bonding time  hehe
