Is a 125cc bike faster than a 250cc bike on a short track if both are 2-strokes. A buddy of mine says that a 125 will beat a 250 on a short tight track. I dont see how.

Your buddy might be right...for many years, I raced on the ice...my 200 was faster than my 500 on the smaller tracks..1/4 mile tracks, I'd race the 200...1/2 mile tracks, the 500 was faster...but not by much

on short, tight tracks, the 125 might be faster because of its weight. the 125 will still have the power to get you around pretty well so that wont be a problem. but you will make up the time by how quick the bike is, if you know how to get the most out of the bike. the 250 will be heavier. and it wont corner as well as a 125 because of the weight. and on short, tight tracks, you dont need top speed. so even though the 250 has more top end speed, it wont help out really since the track wont have any places to really screw it on.
