Ok, need a little help here. I mostly ride tracks.  Now and then we will ride some trails but when we do we dont get to far from our staging area, couple miles this way then we come back and then go a couple miles the other way.

Now I could probably guess at what I should take along with me on a long ride but im the type that would take to much and by the time I got done packing everything I would need a 450 of bigger bike just to haul me and the 300 puonds of accessories.

Now there are alot of trail riders here and my question is. And remember, I don't ask much from you all.lol

What should you, in your honest opinion, take on a day of trail riding? The most important things to you that will make your day as worry free as posable.

One more thing, think East Coast.

light triangle stand, extra plugs (more is safer), pre-mesured containers of oil. (put in tank at gas station, add gas, and shake. dont like to do this but can carry a gas can.) plug wrench, small socket set, small 1st aid kit, meal bars. i carry a back pack over my chest protector and put my hydration bladder in it.

the minimum for me:  a water-carrying pack, my tool kit (T-wrench with 3 sockets(8mm, 10mm 12mm), spark plug wrench, needle nose pliers, axle wrench, phillips screw driver, two wrenches (10mm and 12mm) three allen wrenches, a box of (4) new spark plugs (I share with others), candy bars.  For longer rides I also pack a spare inner tube, tire irons, and a hand-operated tire pump.

We make sure at least one person in the group is carrying a tow rope

Dose this all fit in one pack? Do you use a waist pack or one of those fender packs? What kind of water pack do you use.

Tow rope for sure.

My main backpack has the water system, and extra compartments for my sandwhiches, map, flashlight, tubes, etc.  I carry my tool kit, spare sparkplugs and camera in a little fanny pack that goes around my waist.

Your main backpack with the water system, is it like the one that was in the DR review a couple issues ago. The one that is part of the chest protector?

Geez - I feel so unprepared!  I take my cell phone, copies of paperwork (reg, ins), a couple of snack bars, a plug and wrench.  I have a little handlebar bar that works fine.

I should mention that I don't usually go on unfamiliar trails.

plenty of water, spare spark plugs, spare levers, energy foods,i make salad sanwiches and take fruit,a banana is good energy food, nuts, and just like if you were going to a track the next day,the night before dont drink to much beer or coffee it dehidrates you and youl get arm pump easier, and you need to make sure you take plenty of fuel,i even take spare ridding gear lol,i use a fox camel pack,{a small back pack i ride with that holds a few litres of water, and in that i carry plyers spare plugs, are you ridding there or driving then ridding?because you can leave food and other spares in the car,in my pack i like to take the plugs and levers, just incase, saves you pushing your bike back, lol,i have this great little all in one tool i put in my back pack ill try get a picture

I bought my backpack at a sporting goods store, the brand is Platypus, I think.  I like it because I can also pack a fishing pole in it.  I'm not sure about east coast critters, but I also pack a 357 sidearm in a holster in case we meet an unruly grizzly bear (they usually run the other way).
