bigrocks,

Since the new four strokes are becoming so advanced it seems the majority of two strokes are getting thrown aside because it is just plain easier to win or at least do better on a new four stroke. I agree with you on the 125cc two stroke class but what about two new 250cc classes, a four stroke class and a two stroke class? Even though the new 250 four strokes are fast, are they really as fast as a 250 two stroke? And after that could be an open class.

Dont get me wrong either. I'm not hating on four strokes at all, I rode an XR200R which was a great bike for about a year but then i just wanted something bigger. Both two and four strokes are fun but as far as competition goes it's starting to seem biased towards the new four strokes. What do you think. Thanks.

Even if they do make a seperate class for two strokes and four strokes it won't make much of a difference. People will keep racing the four strokes because the think that they are easier to ride and have more usable power and also because they are to lazy to use the clutch to get a two stroke into its best power range.

Given equal riding ability, a two stroke 250 will smoke a four stroke 250 and give a 450 four stroke a good workout, but the 450 will prevail.  Unless the course is real tight, then the 2 stroke's quick handling and agility makes it a winner

Different classes for 2 strokes and 4 strokes, yeah, why not.

i agree your reeds are the first thing you should upgrade on a two stroke. also try a K and N filter and a power now system. and if you want a cheap way to get a bigger bore go to www.phatheadracing.com. you can buy a new piston dome that can either be bigger or smaller than your stock one depending on whether you want more compression or a bigger bore.

dont be scared of a 250 2-stroke! i just bought a cr250 for my first bike, i only rode on a dirtbike maybe 3 times b4 i bought it, and now 2 months later, im already clearing 30ft jumps. i rode a couple of friends bikes, just to see the difference, and although a 250 4stroke is easier to ride, you will want to move up to a 450 4 stroke within no time at all. im as new as they get to riding dirtbikes, and i tell you when i first got my bike, i just couldnt handle it at first, so i rode my friends yz250f, learned all the basics on that, then i went back to my bike and i was flying out there! now, if i ride the yz 4 stroke, it almost feels slow to me! for the complete package, a 250 2 stroke is the way to go. it will blow away any 250 4 stroke, and be right up there with a 450 4 stroke.  go with a 250 2 stroke. you will be able to adapt to the power in no time. dont give into the 4 stroke hype!!
