Howdy everyone, I'm an old rider (62) who rides classic British, Norton and Triumph. Rode motocross and hare scrambler in the 70's on Penton steel tank and Husqvarna. That is my brief intro, now my question:
I have my son's 1996 Suzuki RM125. He has moved on and out and it appears he won't be riding any longer. I've been thinking of de-tuning it and gearing it really low, kind of like a trials bike (donno if anyone knows about trials )so I could run it through our woods which is full of obstacles and use it for utiltarian purposes on our acreage. It goes crazy fast, but that's no help to me. Want low end torque, not speed. I realize that what I want is the opposite of the norm, but would appreciate any advice. I called the local Suzuki dealer who has a limited sprocket selection. Thanks. Rich

Pat, I meant it's a 1996. Sorry for the typo. Does that make my job any more do-able? Thanks, Rich

flywheel, port and polish specific to move from top to bottom, sprockets. this would be easier on a 250 but might be do-able on a 125.

Lower the gearing as much as possible.
