PaulB14: I don't know anything about the wii stuff, but I think you already have what you need there hair. I use dumbbells to keep my upper body and arms in shape for riding. The walking you mention is good too.
I just get a bit bored so the more options, the better. Also, I can't always get outside during the winter, not because of the cold, but because of the ice and snow.

22 isn't old Lindsey, it's just getting warmed up. I have said before that I play games in between sets. Darts, game boy.etc. or video golf, Ricky Carmichael motocross (PS).

I remember what gets the sorest when I get back into riding, and it's usually my arms, wrists and shoulders. That's why I use the dumbbells for building up my upper body area, specifically my shoulders. I use a nail gun, bent over most all day, and lift lumber and stuff too, so my back and legs are in decent shape just from work.

i do crew so right now im working out 4-5 days a week when my back is messed up from lifting my bike off the stand (epic story if you wanna hear it) and we do sprints abs stuff like that some days, and mostly we just use the rowing machines. if you want a workout set the meters to 2000 sprint the first 250 a middle 250 and the last 250 and you'll be panting like a dog. that's or 8 sets of 500 meters and do them as fast asy you can with like 3 minute breaks in between. now be advised i ate some stuff before i went to crew and by the 6th or 7th time i had to go throw up lol

paul you might be making it worse. you want to do workout that don't target a specific muscle such as your forearm.

well if I am making it worse, I'll find out in two weeks when I do a lot of riding in California. I notice that no matter how hard I work in construction, it's never the right muscles for riding bikes. When I was younger and used to race motocross and desert I concentrated on repitition weights rather than maximum weights, that helped me a lot for endurance. Especially the wrist curls. In those days I used to wear ankle weights all day, every day at school, and ran cross country meets to keep my legs in shape. I was really into racing so everything I did was to that end...

I worked construction for about 10 years when I was younger - mostly Symons forms, then metal studs and sheetrock. Just a bit of framong and a bit of road work. You're right - that kind of work really keeps you in good muscle shape. Not so much for cardio, but at least half the battle is covered.

I have a wii and I really don't think that it would be a good tool to get you in shape. Just my opinion tho. I stay in shape by using a treadmill and a fitness ball.

No dag, I never bought one. Partly because I wasn't sure if it was my best option and partly because I didn't know what to buy. I didn't want to spend the money if it wasn't going to help. Shovelling snow kept me in shape most of the winter and I went for walks whenever possible.
I also tried to ride my little bmx bike up and down the driveway. I actually have two driveways and one is fairly steep and the other is steep. I wasn't riding for excercise so much, but the bike uses similar muscles and balance that are used for riding db's. I can practice looking through turns, weighting the outside peg, etc.
What about you? it's probably much easier out west because you don't have four months of bad weather.

My garage is open year round, lol I have collected exercise equipment over the years. I love to train almost as much as I love to ride. I have a stair master, treadmill, stationary bike, a couple of benches and a rack. I used to get to ride a lot more when I had my van. I could keep my bike with me all the time, now I have to load a trailer, what a pain.
