I am putting my back back together after about maybe 9 months of being apart.  now, apon digging through my tote and trash can full of parts, and putting them back on the bike i found a geer looking piece.  it is circle, has teeth on the inside of it.  it is about 2 maybe 3 inches long, and two differend types of teeth on the outside.  i did not touch the transmission, but i did open ou the cluch.  the gear (if that's what you want to call it) has some brass in it.  could that be from the cluch?  that is the only thing i can think of.  i did open up the top end and rebuilt that but it is too big to go into that area.  any ideas?

ohhh man this might be hard for you after its been apart so long. get a service manual for your bike factory preferably if you can't get a factory get a clymers. that should show the parts  & how they came apart & go back together

The bike is a 1989 CR250.  Like i said, i only opened the cluch, and the top end.  did not mess with the tranny or the kick start.  any ideas?
The little thin lip around the outside is like a washer, but more like a key ring style, one piece of metel that is bent around it, spring like but tight together.

ok, so funny story.  this piece, the gear that i found was from the Locking Hub on my Jeep, that went bad around the time i was working on the bike.  so, this piece was from my locking hub, and somehow found its way into my bike parts... LOL thank you for all the help
