o ring chain is just that it has an o ring holding lube to the in side of the chain reducing drag. makes the chain stiffer xring is simmilar to o ring but it is lighter & doesn't stiffen the chain as bad
gold xring is a combo of gold chain & xring idk what the others are its all fancy racing stuff i would just run a good oring. or if you dont want to clean your chain frequently to keep your chain in good shape DavidS DavidS

What bike do you have and what type riding? That also plays a part in what type chain to get as well.

If you want the best then you would want Sidewinder which is what I run on my 07YZ250F but I doubt you need to go that way.

O ring chains have prelubed ans sealed pivots. They offer a little more rolling resistance until they are heated up. Then they spin just as freely as a non O ring chain. They are better for most users who are not worried about weight. That is their biggest down fall. They weigh more than a non Oring chain. X ring chains are o ring chians with a different shaped ring that offers less rolling resistance. I think the difference is not that noticable. You should replace your sprockets whenever you replace your chain if either are worn or stretched they will quickly wear the new item. I highly recommend Sidewinder chains and sprockets. They are the best and longest lasting. A cheaper alternative is Rethals twin ring sprockets, and a Moose F.B. chain. A great long lasting combo. I would stay away fom aluminum sprockets if you are not racing and trying to have the lightest bike possible. They wear faster and cause the chain to wear faster too.
