yep 32:1 like 92 said, and use Bel-Ray H1R or Pro Honda HP2 premix.

i run 50:1. castor 927 oil, and 93 octane. and my 97 kx 250 has never fouled a plug and the thing runs awesome. great low end and doesnt ping on top end. i have ran on one plug for a very long time. but i do change my plugs maybe once few months. i dont keep track because the bike doesnt foul plugs.

What did the previous owner run? If he ran a different mix and rejetted accordingly; you may need to rejet if you change it.

Do you even know when the top-end was done last?

If you don't know when it was last done, I would definately tear down the top-end and check/inspect everything. Unless there are horrible knocking noises coming from the bottom end, I would leave it!
