Hi I just purchased a 1981 yamaha yz 60 and it runs great, but it is just so damn loud. The stock silencer on it is welded up so I cant take it apart to see if it needs to be repacked but I'm pretty sure it does. so my question to any one that can answer it is if I get a new silencer (not stock, probably a fmf) and put it on will I be able to hear a significant change or will it be just as loud as it was before. any help is appreciated. Thanks

I went to a local hardware store and bought a muffler for a briggs and strat 4 stroke engine and clamped it on the pipe with gear clamps and a piece of rad hose. Cost 10 dollars . Looked shiny . Cut noise in half . Quick fix. But then I ordered a stock silencer which I then removed the packing from cause it restricted the bike to much lol . Rather have a noisy animal than a quiet sewing machine. (within limits)
