wouldn't a big bore kit change the class you race in. What have you done to it so far?

You can use a big bore which will give you more power and torque just make sure you have a class to race in. Porting does a good job of adjusting the power and in many cases will add a bit if you know how you want it to come on. Low or Mid or Top.
The most effective way: quit a few years ago I was riding with a guy who was on a 125 and he kept pulling me out of corners I was on a 250. I asked him how he was doing that. He had me sit on the bike and roll the throttle on "all the way" as it turned out I was only turning the throttle about 3/4 open. My grip technique wasn't correct. I adjusted my riding style and technique to get the throttle all the way open and my bike became a lot faster.

aftermarket pipes, port/polish, aftermarket air filter, you could change your gearing to give it more snap on bottom if you wanted, it actually will just deliver the power quicker and easier if you go up in teeth number in the back, help acceleration. about all i can think of that won't change your engine size.

Mark,
Nice comment. I think I have had the same thing happening to me and am adjusting my grip. Can you be more specific? Roll your wrists forward a bit?

Hold the throttle more at an angle like a tennis racquet it enables you to twist the throttle more.
Place your hand like normal it is probably square with the grip/bar now try to ROLL the throttle full open. Either you used a tremendous amount of over grip or your elbow is in your lap. This is because you are relying on the flextion and extension of the wrist to open and close the throttle.
Now shift your grip so that it is at very slight angle similar to holding a tennis racquet. With this grip TWIST the throttle, you should notice that in addition to the flex and extend of the wrist like you had with the square grip you have rotation of the radius around the ulna (two bones in the forearm). Thus a greater range of motion in the wrist and the side advantage of easier to keep elbows up and less stress on the wrist. It will take a while to get use to but it helps.

Have the head milled. it will boost the compression, but you will have to run race gas. Check this out: Phat Head Racing Its a bolt on high compression head with interchangeable combustion domes so you can pickt he compression you want to run.
