Dirt Rider is working on another of our popular Used Bike features with portions in the magazine and parts on DR.com. We are looking for an interesting bike to use as a project for this story. The bike needs to be local to SoCal so we can do the work/get the work done and shoot photos. So if you think your bike is the magic bullet, post a description of the bike and your favorite type of riding. Be sure to include where you live. Photos are a plus! Good luck guys and gals!

Well, my bike isn't necessarily unique (2005 YZ250), but the fact that I'm 6 feet 5 inches tall might be a good angle. The only mod made to the bike to accomodate my height is the tall seat foam, so far. But you guys could aim this article at the above average height guys and highlight some of the options that are out there for the bike to accomodate us freaks of nature. I realize we're a small niche, but we're out there. Then, if you're feeling generous, you could demonstrate how these products work by installing them on my bike and I could do a write-up on how much better/worse the bike feels. Just a thought. And I'm in Anaheim Hills, btw.

I am happy to say that the first used bike featured in the dirty part was the same model I picked when I chose to buy a bike.  And yes I knew exactly the model and years I wanted when I started looking to buy a used bike.

When I started looking for a used bike I wanted the same bike Bill was looking for and also found it.  It hasn't done anything noteworthy, yet, but I am coming out of my crash testing phase and it could use some tlc.  and it is SO Cal.

Thats not fair. SoCal is to far for us east coasters. Would it count if we drive our bikes there.

Bill and I  could both come, that way you get a more trail rider and a more track rider, you get both worlds.

I remember a few years back DR said if you want your picture on the cover all you have to do is win a AMA race. Thats not gonna happen but will settle for the back cover.lol

Just let us know and will leave right away.

Here is my not so used bike 07 but you can do what you want to make it better.

And if your taking 4 year olds ill bring my grandson and his bike to.

Is Phoenix close enough? Could drive out there or meet somewhere. Actually its not for me, I'm nominating someone.

MJP, come on out show us your 144. You would have the perfect story for DR.

KK its funny that you used the "silver bullet" description, thats what I had planned on using for a thread title when my project is finished..

Here is a photo of my bike:

It's a 2005 CRF450X.  I think it would make a good story for several reasons:  it's a very popular bike and actually, it was one of the first CRF450X's bought in California!  I was on a waiting list at T.O. Honda for over a year in order to purchase it and was the first one to actually pick it up from their store.  I've ridden this bike all over; it has between 300-400 hours on it and is still almost completely stock.  I do mostly technical trail riding in the desert in Southern California and Baja, Mexico.  I do long adventure rides with it as well (has a license plate!) and often put 500 miles on it in one weekend.  I think it would be interesting to give it some mods that make it a more formidable trail weapon; fast, quiet, comfortable, maneuverable.  Something that will be rideable ALL day, handle rocks and waterfalls, and be able to jet through the open desert.
