I have a 2002 kx 125 and i was wondering how often to clean the air filter, i have seen some post at like 3 or 4 rides but i find that is to much if you are doing trail riding. Also some instructions on a good fairly easy way to clean and oil it. By the way i have a Uni Air Filter, and a K&N Recharger pack with the Air Filter oil and Air Filter cleaner.

For motocross, every 3 or 4 rides is good. But like you said, could be a little much if you are just trail riding. Id just keep checking it and when it starts to get pretty dirty clean it.

DAVE our monitore put up a great post on this. Use your search on air filter.

the less dirt that gets into your engine the better chance you will have on keeping the bottom end around for a longer period of time, when that filter gets dirty even a little, clean it. search for the threads as WOODS mentioned and you can find some good cleaning tips.

We do ours every outing, if its real dusty we may even swap clean ones at the track.

ok i might clean mine once every couplf of weeks or when it looks real dirty, maybe i can take a picture of it now and post it up and you guys can tell me how it looks. Also for a uni air filter the inner side is made out of foam using K&N cleaner and oil should it still be good?

I think it says on the K&N filter cleaning box not to use on foam filters. I use PJ1 cleaner and oil...

Well I usually just apply evenly on the outside and use my fingers to work it in. The filter will kind of change color once it absorbs the oil. You should let it dry for a few minutes. I usually leave it out for 30 minutes on a flat surface. I'm always cleaning mine after a ride instead of before I ride so I know my filter is always as dry as it should be.

I don't remember the name of the spray-on stuff I use but it has a blue color so you can tell if you missed any spots.  If you have the $$ it's a good idea to get a spare filter so one can dry properly beforeyou re-oil it.
