Why would i get another one if i just bought this one a month ago? And if you leave it dry over night it is good. But i am not asking how to clean it right now i am asking how can you tell if there is not enough oil, or evan to much!

Drench in oil, wring it out with your two hands and let it sit for 30 min. If it's still drippin wring it out some more and let it dry. If you have too much it will just be dripping wet.

bo you dont really have to drench it, just apply moderately and youo'll be fine.

I figured I'd stress the issue how to tell if you have too much oil. LOL! Read through the thread and you'll see what I mean

bohays88cr125r: Well I usually just apply evenly on the outside and use my fingers to work it in. The filter will kind of change color once it absorbs the oil. You should let it dry for a few minutes. I usually leave it out for 30 minutes on a flat surface. I'm always cleaning mine after a ride instead of before I ride so I know my filter is always as dry as it should be.
I got it. I was just stating you dont want to "drench" your air filter

when you have a good oiled air filter do you squeeze slightly with your fingers and you can see just a little but of oil on your finger tips?

yeah, its just a light enough film to where it will trap small dust and dirt from getting in there. It should be fairly tacky.

I want to make sure there is enough oil on it there should be because i have a uni one with outter surface and inner foam one and the foam one is oiled good but the outer isn't oiled as good as the foam but when i squeeze lightly there is some residue on my fingers.

Simple answer, with two (I have three) you always have at least one ready to go. What if yours gets torn? Having a spare on hand makes it a non-event. Plus in really dirty (dusty) condistions I may change it at the track.
As I show in the thread referenced, I drench it in oil, sqeeze out most of it (into a container so I can pour back in filter oil bottle) and then wrap the oiled filter in paper towels and squeeze it. This gets rid of any excess oil.

yeah, but i m not going to buy a spare it is almost brand new and i'm not expecting it to tear it's not those cheap air filters. When you have enough oil how can you tell with your fingers like squeeze them slightly and a very very small ammount of oil should be on the finger tips? I did that and it's like little spots around my finger tips.

Thats about right. Keep in mind that the reason you need to (SQUEEZ) not (wring )out all the exccess is because the bike needs to breath. Make sure the filter is dry before oiling as you do not water getting in to the carb. Rule of thumb is whatever you can (squeez) out with one hand is extra.

I'v done everything from throwing then in the dryer to blow drying lol. But you have the time so just let sit dry. couple hours. Also we don't wring them because it will tair the filter.
