my dad is tossing around the idea of selling his 250x and getting a atv at the end of this year. He's looking at a Yamaha Wolverine 350 or 450 4x4 or a 350 raptor. He prefers 4x4 but if he finds a good deal on a 2 wheel drive, he wont ignore it. want atv would have a simular engine to his bike now?

Why is he selling his 250X? Is he giving up riding?

the most similar to his bike will be a honda 400ex. these quads are awesome, reliable, pretty powerful, light maneuverable, and will go just about anywhere. they are not 4x4's but i've never seen my friends' not make it through anything a 4x4 could.

I did a thread on this at quadcrazy.com and they said that both those bikes will be much under powered compared to a crf250. I think they said that a 400/450 would be about the same.

pop - no, he's just switching to atv's because he's 48 and not in quite as good of shape as you.

So is he wanting a Quad or an ATV? There is a differance. If he is going with an ATV go Polaris, get a sportsman with the push button 4 wheel drive. My freind hase two and one an older on that is a two stroke, it's pretty quick.

Now as far as Quads go I am not sure about them but hear the Yami's a great. Have a freind who has a warrior and it a ton of fun. Quads hurt my knees after about 1hr (they are small) of riding but an ATV I can ride all day.

he doesn't want anything with racks. He wants it to at least look a little sporty.

So he want's a Quad. I hope he's not a big guy because they are small but they are fun! Remember this, quad are great for smoother trails and stuff but really rocky stuff they suck. The supention just can't handle the rocks so well. I've hit logs on a polaris at 30mph and hardly felt a thing.

ha, he's 6' 2" 220lbs. I was thinking of the LTZ400 and Honda 400. They're both good sized quads. Our local dealer has a used LTZ400, so friday we'll probably go test ride it.

Ya I stand 6'2 as well! He about 20 pounds heavier though. My problem with quad's is the standing for bumps. The way my legs are bent while sitting is way past 90 deg. and constantly standing and sitting hurts the knees, it's not like a dirt bike. Just thought I'd bring that up. What ever he gets I hope he's happy with it, but we all know bike's are funner!

I do ride ATV's and Quad alot though. If it's got a motor I can have fun on it!

my grandpa is 71 and he still rides bikes when we go to the cabin.

I hope he gets a 400, because I think the racer quads look incredibly better than a wolverine/utiliy.
