all forms are illegal in maine other then sparklers. but i live 2 miles from the border with new hampshire, (where fireworks are legal to buy and sell but not to use), so we get some from time to time. not this year though. glad you had fun woods.

Good to hear, Elk, that you had a great time as well.  As far as us, we cancelled on the BBQ of my friend's and had my best friend's parents and family over for a cookout at our house.   My best friend's father has cancer and has chemo tomorrow, and I really wanted to put down a spread for him.  The wife went all out, and we really made it special.  Had his whole family over, includng little Tay-tay  LOL  and we really put down a great night.

Come 8:00 again, little pops and bangs, but I figured for some reason noone was going to do a lot of serious launching this evening.  Well, guess what -- my neighbors took a chill pill on this, and we got with our immediate neighbors and said we were going to launch the rest of our mortars tonight, and they were fine.  Well, come 9:30, after we'd all eaten great food (thanks to the wife), the people right across the river were throwing up shells like nobody's business.  We put up two big boxes, and then started firing back with mortars, and it was on again.  They had some really nice stuff, and so did we, and it was nice for everyone just to sit on our breezeway and look over the mountain and river and watch all the fireworks we all put up.  It was almost like we took turns.

Without riding, I gotta say this is one of the best 4th in a long time, as everyone just had a blast and enjoyed each others' company.  We shot our last fireworks off around 10:00 -- I thought that was reasonable -- all our guests left, and the wife and I sat on the porch in candlelight, talking about the evening, when suddenly around 10:45, KABOOM!  Shells start going up behind our house.  The guy with the huge, LOUD, mortars started launching.  We were both looking at each other wondering why he did it this late when the rest of us had done it earlier since these were so loud, and tomorrow's a workday.  What we're putting up is not your everyday fireworks.  They're actual mortar displays.

Audrey and I just said at least it's not us, and we sat out with a glass of wine under a full moon, as Elk can attest to  LOL  and just talked and wrapped up a great weekend.  Family, friends, food and fireworks -- the four Fs.  Can't beat it.  I hope everyone else had the same thump in my heart as I did all weekend.  As you can tell by the spelling, guess who's typing!  So from both of us to all of you, peace, love and safety.

In conclusion to this thread  LOL  our phone rang about an hour ago and it was the boro.  We live in a boro/township, so it's not city limits.  They had one question, and that is, Are you done?  We weren't the only ones to get the phone call, I'm sure, as everyone really lit it up this year.  So we said yes, and that was the end of it.  I don't think the wife was too thrilled, and I told her it's not like your picture is going to be in the post office  LOL.

Anyway, today is recovery and back to the grind tomorrow.  As for your question about the mortars, if we were putting up mortars, I would probably put up 4s, and our neighbors did 6s.  Why do you ask?

Anyway, once again, hope everyone had a fun and safe holiday weekend.  The only thing that could have made it better was taking a good ride, but that's OK.  Did I mention Chud's mom was over?
