If all the planets align just right, you'll see me there for sure. Just got to move some of these planets around a bit. If anyone is on the fence about going to this race you should probably just do it. Consider riding your bike on one of the world's best ski resorts. Just being able to do it makes it worth the trip. Thanks for posting the info, guys. Dirt Rider is proud to be able to help out and just glad you're pulling it off.

9220 is the highest point, at the upper station of the Swift Current lift. According to my GPS, the starting line is 7,655.

Jesse,

A lot of planets aligned to make this race happen. It would great to hear you were able to pull off the trip to Big Sky this year.

I think everyone following this thread should post a quick comment letting Jesse and his bosses know a trip to Big Sky would be worth while for Dirt Rider Magazine! Plenty of photo opportunities and I think our race course would be a great stop for any long haul bike test.

come on Jesse!  It'd be like coming home.  Wouldn't it be cool if JN Roberts showed up?        Anyway, I've got three entries in the mail.

For those of you who are interested, I changed my pilot jet today from the stock 35 to the 38, and took her for a test ride at about 4,000' elevation.  What a difference!  The throttle response on the bottom is much crisper now and the stuttering is completely gone.   It was recommended that I use the #40 pilot jet for the higher elevation at Big Sky.

Hey guys I'm going to use the helmet cam in the race.  I'll put the larger capacity memory card in it so I can film all 2 hours.  Of course I'll edit it down to 5 minute morsels for your consumption LOL.  Then I'll do a write up here of the race and use the video pieces to show you where I was when things were happening...

paul, that'll be really cool!

we're hoping to get on the trail before the race w/ a helmet cam to give you a glimpse of what to expect.

A rep from Zero Motorcycles will be at the Big Sky XC offering free electric dirt bike demos.

And...it sounds like he'll also be entering in one of the weekend's races. I'm guessing the lightweight electric bike will be an advantage downhill. I'm looking forward to seeing how the bike compares on the uphill sections.

Hey guys I need some jetting information for my friend Jim's KLX450R.  I don't anything about 4 stroke engines.  It runs fantastic, even slightly lean, at 3,000 feet elevation.  But on a ride yesterday at about 6,500 feet it had a flat spot at mid-throttle, and loss of power on top.  It was also hard to start.  Any suggestions on how to set up his bike for the harescrambles (elevation 7600 to 9200)?  Thanks

I finally connected the course for the 65/85 race and the C Class/women race on Saturday.  There are some tight spots, but a less technical trail for those who have never raced, but want to ride at Big Sky Resort.  I think the kids will have a blast on the 3.2 mile section, most of which is in the woods with a couple of transfer sections that are open.  The course is really coming together!

AND PLEASE JIMMY LEWIS, SEND JESSE HOME TO MT FOR THIS RACE!

thanks bigskyracer, I'm bringing my nephew who has never raced before and who's parents are a bit nervous LOL.  He can actually ride pretty well, since he hangs with my friends and I sometimes  I am wondering if I can sign up as a "race dad" to tag along with and keep an eye on him in the race?  Do you offer anything like this?

I am assuming he will be riding the 65/85 race.  I plan to have quite a few of course sweepers for this race, most in the same situation you have.  Bring an orange vest if you have it or I will hook you up with one here.  But yes, check in with me on Saturday, it would be great to have another set of eyes on the course to help for the kids race.

okay, but he's 16 years old riding a KX125, so it will be in the open C class I assume...and I have a hunting vest I can wear
