I was wondering if anybody could give me tips on how to do a Wheelie on a dirt bike. For the past 10 years i have been riding on 4 wheels (1996 Yamaha Warrior 350) and have pretty much mastured that by being able to do Wheelies,Endos,Stoppies,One Wheel Wheelies,Byclicles, jumps, all that happy stuff. So i decided to try a new thrill and start over by buying a 1993 Cr125R. God i dont know how you guys do it.AlOT DIFFRENT FROM THE 4x4s[/bold][/bold]. Lol. I give you dirt bike riders credit. Any way i wawa be able to pull and ride Wheelies on a dirt bike. I can get the front wheel up but i have trouble finding my balance and i keep falling over. But the few times i do find my balance i hit the power band and the bike goes over. i understand the proceder to doing a wheelie but i cant do it. Help me out here!

on a 2 stroke, rev up to right before the powerband hits let off for a fraction of a second, and then hit it and lean back right when the powerband hits and that should do it.

P.S. it works best in 1st or 2nd gear.

The easiest way to wheelie is while seated.  Using the throttle I bring the bike up to the point of going over backwards, then let off slightly on the throttle to level myself out in an upright (wheelie) position.  I then use light throttle control to keep the bike moving forward in the wheelie.  Your bike may be a bit more difficult to ride a wheelie on because the powerband is more temperamental.  But you don't have to be in the powerband to wheelie, in fact I prefer NOT to be in the powerband when wheelieing!  By the way, I've destroyed many a rear fender and put holes in plenty of pants learning this stuff...

In this video you can watch my friend Jim do a couple wheelies at 1:22 to 1:42.  In the first wheelie he is just putting along, and has to put his foot out to balance himself on the turn.  In the second wheelie he is accelerating rapidly and I have to hustle to keep pace with him!  These wheelies are on a dirt road, where it is the easiest place to do it.  Enjoy...

get to that 45 degree angle, feather the gas for balance, let the throttle and bike do the wheelie.

Nobody's mentioned the most important part...

You have to keep the rear brake covered (have your foot ready to tap it).  It is the only way to save the bike (and you) from going over backwards if you go to far.  If you feel the bike starting to go over; tap the rear brake and it will drop the front wheel.

The guys you see doing very long balance wheelies or wheelies over obstacles are play the rear brake and throttle together to hold the bike at the correct attitude.

If you don't use the rear brake you will go through a lot of rear fenders and likely hurt yourself.

Wow man be a dick about it. Im just trying to get some help and figure this out. riding on 4 wheels with a four stroke engine for 10 years is pretty hard to shake and now i have to worry about being up on one wheel insted of two and the power band which rips. So ya pulling wheelies on a dirt bike is way diffrent than pulling wheelies on a ATV.  So go make some lasagna that will proably suck.  By the way. You think im all talk. You at your Screen Name.
