bestmxriderever: dont act like u can pop wheelies on a four wheeler cause if u had actually done any of those tricks u wouldn't be asking us how to do the easiest trick on earth and its not very differrent from the way u pop wheelies on a four wheeler
DLHamblin: Actually a 4-wheeler is easier to wheelie than a bike.
still same basic principal its just easier to balance a four wheeler

I thought wheelies were just something to show off with. But the book I am reading now suggest practicing wheelies and stoppies as a regular exercise for crossing logs and bike control. A stoppie is when you stop so hard the back tire comes off the ground.

They are used off-road a lot for crossing logs, holes ditches etc.
Still helpful on a track for ruts etc.
They do help develop bike control for sure.

i don't like best's attitude eh? people here are offering helpful advice, anyway, wheelers are a lot easier to balance on and you'd be surprised at the differences, there is a lot more clutch control in wheeling a bike in that you have to use the throttle, clutch, brake and your personal balance to keep the bike from going to far back, to far forward or to far to either side. a lot more throttle and clutch go into getting the bike to wheelie.

Although I have been riding off road for 25 years, river beds, sand trails, Occitllo Wells type stuff, I haven't been racing but for 8mos. I am still in the learning mode. I am used to just powering over obstacles and not using any finesse or skills. Be patient. My spelling isn't so good either.
