If I am shopping for a bike on craigslist and see a paddle tire on it or next to it I will not even bother. I think a 125 is just not enough bike. But I have not spent a lot of time at Glamis.

When you go to Glamis remember to keep on the throttle! It helps keep the front tire up instead of pushing through the sand. Also a prefilter for your airfilter would be great.

A CR125 makes as much power as a 250f. It just has a it in a shorter amount of RPMs. You would burn up one of those just as quickly. Both bikes can handle the dunes no problem as long as the rider is not too heavy. But as I said before. If you are only getting the bike to ride in sand dunes and nothing else, the more power the better.

My Point is this.....A 4 stroke is better in the sand, A 125 2 stroke is begging to get blown up! Can you get away with it a few times? Shure...You can get away with anything a few times. A CR 125 will detonate in sand if you keep doing it! Thats the bottom line! And Yes i'v owned one!

ItzJ: How will a cr 125 do in the Sand Dunes at Glamis if properly maintained? Will it push out enough power?
MJP68: I ran my 125 in the dunes last winter and it was no problem at all.
I had less trouble with my 125 than with my 03 YZ250.. granted the 250 was faster but it ran hotter and started to ping.
as others have already said the deep soft sand is hard on a little engine, if its properly maintained and tuned properly it will be just fine if ridden properly.
I posted a dunes thread when we went last time, we had a blast.
even the kx60 survived..

ive rode the sht outa my cr125 in the dunes many times, i jus dont run paddle, its to much with paddle.. and if u do make sure its an 8 paddle.. but expect to rebuild ya top end after that trip for sure. they suggest ya rebuild that top end every 7 hours without sand haha.. and ive learned that they say that for reason haha, cause usually if u dont.. it will go out soon after! the bike dont do to well holdin it in the top of gears.. so jus expect to rebuild the top end soon after

6 paddle for a 125. 8 for a 250/450f. 10 paddle for 500s The more paddles you run the more power you need from your engine.
