what are you talking about an 05 yz450f doesnt have a 4spd? & whats with crying about a steel frame?? honda 250? my 02 426 has a 5spd
Dagg i wouldnt go below 05 & i would think you would be best off waiting for an x model CRF... i think the R models boil pretty easy.. a yz450/426 F would be a good choice for you i think as well DavidS
i take a lot of pride in what i am

Yeah, I want an X. I have time. It is off season here so I need to do something in the next 2 months while the prices are lower.

oh yeah, sorry bout that sanders, it does have a 5 spd.
I say go with the r. it won't overheat on trails as long as you stay moving and don't ride for a couple miles and then just let it idle for a few minutes straight. The r will have just as much bottom end as the x except much lighter and more top end.

A good year for a crf with budget 2500-3000 is a pretty good shape crf 2005 or a really good shape crf 250 most likely depending on your area.

The steel frame YZ450s are four-speeds, and they had some problems as well. They are lighter than a 426, but otherwise I liked the 426 better in many respects. Thomas, when you say "longer races," what do you mean?

Karel, I like motocross, I can memorize the track and learn to deal with it.
But if I want to race it is going to have to be desert scrambles and such. The wife really enjoyed the 12 hr (the family got to be involved)and it fits into what I want to do with the Autism thing.
I really didn't need a 6th gear at the 12 hr (except for 2-100yd sections) but I think a 4st would have been less a of a burden.
I guess I meant desert scrambles mostly.
