As many of you know, I've always been a desert rat.  Live, breath, and ride the desert; wake up early, ride all day, and relax at night. The track never looked like my kind of thing:  I've never been on a track (minus the 6 hour at Glen Helen) and I never really thought I would.  Honestly, I've always been kind of embarrassed and scared to try.  I can't corner well and jumps look terrifying...and so does being close to that many riders at one time.  Well, yesterday I finally got out there and tried.

I must say, I had an absolute BLAST.  The track was nice for beginners, no jumps that you HAD to do, tons of traction and beautiful surroundings.  I couldn't have asked for anything better.  I rode with the beginners my first time out and moved up with the medium-ish guys after that.  I didn't do nearly as bad as I thought, and started to at least get the hang of it.  In fact, my brother couldn't even pass me the first time we were out together!  That pretty much made my whole day. Plus, he crashed once and I never did

I really can't wait to go again...looks like another reason I just love this sport.

Thanks Karel and Doc and everyone else!!

Was it your brothers first time on a track too? I'm glad you found a new way to have fun on bikes.

yes, Sanders' first name is David.  Woods' first name is Tony.  I'm assuming DT is Jason.  I (csully) am Courtney...sully works too. haha.

As far as riding the desert (so as not to jack the 4th of July thread) I normally am out in Mojave, Cal City, Jaw Bone, Spangler areas.  Glamis is far and I don't like dunes, plus there is FAR too many stupid people there for me.

thats cool. tracks are always fun. and the nice thing is, they have a good atmosphere and you dont get picked on if you are slow.
