"Husaberg is gearing up to release the smallest model in its range – the FE 390 – a mid-range thumper the manufacturer is promoting as the ideal freeride enduro.

The oddball capacity was designed to give riders an option less demanding than a 450 but powerful enough for any off-road riding situation.

“When it’s all about endurance, an Enduro bike should support the rider instead of demanding all his [sic] concentration and power. The Husaberg FE 390 is exactly that,” the company said in a statement.

“Based on the 70 degree engine layout, the FE 390 matches any 250 four-stroke in terms of easy handling. But with its way more bottom-end power and toque and its smooth power delivery, it is one step ahead in terms of overall rideability.”

Husaberg claims the FE 390’s ‘easy-shifting’ handling – which features across the manufacturer’s entire 2010 range – sets it apart from the competitors.

“This was largely achieved through a consistent weight reduction and a high-tech construction that concentrates all the rotating engines masses as compactly and as close to the bike’s centre of gravity as possible,” the company said.

The FE 390 will be targeted at leisure riders who don’t need to stick to capacity-linked racing classes; racers who do a lot of endurance racers; and extreme enduro and endurocross riders who need the stability and bottom-end power of a four-stroke in addition to the easy handling of a two-stroke.

The 2010 Husaberg range includes the FE 390, FE 450, FE 570 enduro models, the FX 450 (lightless) cross country bike and the FS 570 supermoto monster."

first pics on the new model who i found

and first opinions from test ride

"All the range uses the new 70-degree engine layout, which in the 390's case makes it feel like a 250F, but with much easier power and more of it. While the 450 already feels like a trial bike compared to other 450s, it is especially the case with the 390, which can pick its way over serious snot without needing to wipe its nose.

The suspension is very soft and the bike feels smaller than the bigger enduros. The power is good but obviously better suited to tight riding rather than top-end hauling - that’s what the bigger bikes are for!

The graphics haven't changed for this year, meaning better resale value for 09-model owners and keeping a strong family presence.

The 390 is a shorter-stroke 450, with the bore remaining the same.

For 2010, the 450 and 570 have gained 3mm (19-22mm) offset in an effort to give the bike more front-end stability and feel, something which worried some people with the '09s, and others didn't!

There are a few detail changes too, such as a new X-ring chain. But the big news for the 2010s is the expanded model range and of course that odd-ball capacity FE 390. "
