I have been riding quads for the last 7 years and have not ridden a dirt bike for probably 17 years.

With some many great prices on used bikes out there I am thinking about getting a dirt bike to play on.  However, I do not know what to get so I am hoping for some advice.

I will ride trails and in a sand pit.  I like to climb the hills and do some small jumps in the sand pit.  I am 40 so I am not going crazy but like to have some fun.
I also ride at night some times so I want a light and electric start.  I am 6' 1" and 210 lbs.  I am looking for a 4 stroke, not to loud to bother my neighbors and something reliable that with normal maintenance will just go. ( I know no guarantees )

Would a CRF 250 x work for me or would be be two small.  Should I go to the 400 or 450?  I normally would lean torwards more power but I also want it small enought so I can handle it and the 250s are really cheap.  I am probably looking at a 2000 to 2004, any recomendations will be appreciated.

I posted this in another thread but someone suggested I start a new topic so I am posting this.

A 250X sounds great to me. A Yamaha WR 250F would be a good choice too. I think the 250 will be plenty for you. I could be wrong but ive always heard its hard to use all the power in a 450 anyways. So unless your a pro, I'd deff go with either of the above 250s

That sounds like a perfect choice. CRF's are good reliable bikes and a 250 would have enough power.
