This might settle the dispute about new grips a while back as well.

I do it jut because when I go through water or if a i get a small rip in my grip it rotates either because it gets wet or dirty between the grip and the tube. Having a bad grip on your throttle hand is just dangerous and I have paid the price. Nothing worse than grabbing throttle and having the grip rotate witout the tube or leaning back and having the grip rotate to where your hand comes off the bars, accident wating to happen..IMO

I use rubber o-rings, they aren't quite as grippy as safety wire, but easier to do and remove, and no chance of it sticking your finger.

I wonder why they don't make lock-on grips like they do for mountain biking.

edit: just after I typed that I did a search and, low and behold ODI does make them for moto but they don't lock at both ends like they do for mtn biking.

I am guilty of at least 3 out of 10 , I don't bleed my brakes, check my spokes or equalize the air pressure in my forks at altitude change.

Its so funny how most of these items will really prevent fatigue, speed and control. I gotta start getting on it myself

yeah, i notice that, as all your wear parts slowly wearing down you acclimate to riding with it as you go, but then you change things over and bam! all of a sudden it feels brand new, you have so much control, and everything just feels better.

I think this 3-day weekend is a good opportunity for me to do a lot of these things. I really need to grease everything, lube my cables, at least. And I keep forgetting to bleed the air out of my fork.
