I get my gas at the Truck Stop down here in New Brunswick and i heard that there is water in the gas which can make a dirt bike run bad. How can i tell for sure if there is water in their gas or in my gas?

you can disconnect your fuel line from the carb and fill a glass about an inch deep with gas.  If water is in there it will form into bubbles that seperate from the gas.  Another simple way to see is to remove your carb bowl and look to see if water pockets are in the gas that it contains.

there are 2 kinds of water in fuel.
Simple contamination, Water is heavier than fuel, it will be on the bottom of the sample. As stated above let sample sit for 15 minutes.
There is also comminguled fuel, a water particle will actually bond with the fuel particle. This will cause the fuel sample to be cloudy, no solution here other than to get rid of the fuel and get it somewhere else.

Josh, one way 2 help get good fuel is to buy 5 gal containers from VP or Sunoco, or some other Race-only fuel suppliers. Fuel that comes from a ground storage tank will always have contaminants.  as woods stated, buy from a place that sells performance fuels, but i don't recommend getting it from the ground. unless u live on sunset strip, i doubt ur local hot rod gas station sells enough fuel to always have fresh stuff in their huge underground storage tank.

another, rule of thumb is never get fuel at a gas station which is getting a delivery. they service truck can unload its contents into the storage tank in matter of minutes. that pressure stirs up the contents of the storage tank and if ur getting fuel at the same time u'll most likely get a mixture of fuel and w/e is floating around in there.

the problem lies in the fact that rarely do any of us have the cake to always buy performance "in-the can" fuels.  so were stuck with buying pump.

Yah I know he was being sarcastic, lol... So was I. Iv'e read lots around here and can tell who knows there stuff. Woods yup, deffinatley knows what he's talking about. Back to this fuel issue. Iv'e always wondered the freshness myself. I usually fuel at station that is frequently used for that reason. Only I use high octane gas and probably most people fueling up don't. So Iv'e always pondered the freshness. Iv'e done the cup test, lol. Everything seams ok thus far.
