I am new here so... Hello, My bike's intake camshaft, left-side bearing race? looking down from front of bike furthest from timing chain, sorry if that's confusing, just pretty much melted after water got in oil. Its a mess but I think fixable, what I cant seem to figure out is why KTM didn't see the need to install a bearing system there instead of steel riding in aluminum? Even with the water in the oil the rest of the engine looked new. That oil hole bearing idea is ridiculous in my opinion,I still love KTM's of course.
I have also read that some of the others are experiencing a lot of heat build up, I AM NOT A MECHANIC, but the engine on mine would just cut out clean some times and not like to idle out of gear, or in gear for that matter. I THINK, from my experience, that is minimal of course, that the intake camshaft was getting so hot that it would actually bind and stop the motor, NOTE it did it a few random times before the water exacerbated the lubrication issue.
Basically what I am wondering is if you guys know anywhere I can get just the cylinder head piece and not the whole setup like on the parts websites and if not do you know any bike engine fabricators/machiners that can fix this, via grinding it out fitting it with bearings. Any help or ideas on how to go about this would be greatly appreciated, Gregg

Welcome Gesxot! do u have any pictures?

I dont think KTM is th only manufacture to run that type of set up. I know my YZ250f

cam caps r plan aluminum housing the steel cam body.

i think finding a machinest to rework that may be a tall order.

Hi, i own a 07 450sxf and my intake cam has got problems also.
During a top end rebuild (today) i find the plain bearing has picked up and started rubbing down into the alloy head. I noticed the oil gallery hole in the intake side is much smaller then the hole in the exhaust side,
This oil starvation problem was rumoured to be that of only the 07 model.

I now need to buy a new cylinder head (2008 or 2009)and have it sent to australia. I dont really think I have any other choice.
