ok so i read a post a while back that suggested 2 stroke mx bikes aren't desidned to be held wOT on long straight aways. theres an unavoidable 10km long straight away on a trail loop i ride its along a beach on super soft loose pea gravel. its so soft you cant ride off full throttle without sinking and slowing too a stop. you need to start in 2nd or 3rd gear and spin it hard for like 20 seconds paddling your feet along just to get moving. every year at the event a good number of 125's are left seized along the beach. my rm 125 seized there one year and my brothers yz125 and my friends cr 125 all succumbed to this trecherous trail section. even 250 2t's struggle along it and some seize up.

how should this be ridden? is there any bike preperation to make it ok to hold wide open for 5 mins straight, or perhaps riding technique that can be employed to get along this beach with out stopping every minute to let the bike cool down. just interested in other peoples ideas and experiences in this situation, as the trail event is great fun apart from this risky section.

hhhmmm that quit wierd that you can't go fast over it. cause to my knowledge I've learned to go like stink over the sandy spots but just go fast you shouldn't have to go wfo

going flat out in 5th, (not enough grunt to hold in 6th) the bikes fishtail quite violently the whole 10km so violently you couldn't let go with even one hand without crashing.  honestly you cant back off full throttle at all or it will slow to stop.

It's not uncommon to have to go wide open in sand, you will sink if your not on top.
There are two things I recommend doing for sand:  go up one step on the main jet and using Redline Water Wetter.  Both will help keep the engine cooler.

After increasing the main you can also increase the oil to fuel ratio slightly(if you run 32 to 1 try 30 or 28 to 1 this will in effect lean the fuel/air which you enriched with the larger main.)  If you are going to do this check your pilot and needle before the event to insure you have them as clean as possible the main is going to be rich but you want it that way for the sand.

if you riding on a beach try to stay in 1 to 2 inch deep water where it wont slow you down but you are on hard pack other than that stay in eisting lines if you can

If you are finding the sand to be not fun, I suggest you spend more time in the stuff.

Sand is a gas...dial it in.

Find some big sand dunes or a sand quarry where the up hill jumps have soft pillow landings and the one leg out handlbar scraping burms are awesome.
